At the moment I'm embraced by death,
what choices will be afforded me?
What one last decision with dying breath
will take me into eternity?
May I go aloft in a hot air balloon
to linger awhile in star-speckled skies?
Hitch a fine cloud to float round the moon,
and only then make my final goodbyes?
I know it may seem brashly inopportune
and even a little bit ill-advised
to suggest death might grant me this slight delay.
But given one encore of life's last tune,
I know that I'll surely be satisfied,
content to alight for my final stay.
