Some whimsy for folks who love words.

Gabfest

by adewpearl

Part of a series with Cantankerous and Flabbergasted.
A flibbertigibbet with nothing to do
went out to get some air,
and on her stroll was invited to tea
by a friend with gossip to share.

Since both were busybodies
with an ear for scuttlebutt,
it didn't take long for their chins to wag
and their tongues to begin to cluck.

They babbled and blabbed, gibbered and gabbed,
blathered, cackled and clacked.
You could fill a book with their gobbledygook -
oh, the noise of their yackety-yak!

They chewed the fat with a chit and a chat -
such flapdoodle has never been heard.
The poppycock spewing out of each mouth
contained not one sensible word.

They flapped their jaws and beat their gums -
a grand confabulation,
but all the garbled sounds produced
was discombobulation.

Some people, I'm told, did try to decipher
their cockamamie clucking,
but all in all the folderol
was nothing but befuddling.

Legend has it the roof blew off
with all that hot air swirling,
but whether this be the truth or lie,
it was SOME hurly burly.

You can call it claptrap, piffle or bunkum,
burble or balderdash,
but the ruckus they raised caused a hullabaloo
that will never again be matched.
