I believe in fairies - I don't know why
any more than you'd ask a shooting star
why it falls to the Earth from heavens afar
or a wing why it's on a butterfly.

I believe in hope - I can't explain why
any more than I know why the night's first star
should care for the wishes I wish from afar,
or the sun paints rose on the morning sky.

How hard it would be to live and to cope
in a life confined to the probable.
I believe in fairies, star shine and hope,
and a world where all things are possible.
