Losing John Waters in Baltimore

by Mike K2

This is twenty-five years combined.
I sought out to find John Waters
with an idea of a movie for him to see.
The guru of sexuality based comedy, written
from my marriage, he would produce it with glee.

It had all of his elements, an out of control
daughter, now worried about her mom's new attitude, taudry and sheek.
A wife that chewed her husband out for swimming
nude in the pool, in the honeymoon suite.

My movie even had one of those symbols John
incorporates to represent orgasmal delight.
Every time the husband had this sweet relief,
usually with the bathroom door closed, the shoe
rack would fall down causing a fright.

I found out that John Waters was shooting
a new movie just down the street,
"He's In Town!"
Security told me talking to him is no problem,
just walk up, be patient, he'll talk when he is around.

His movie making gear was plainly in sight
on Harford Road for a two mile stretch.
Various parts of the movie crews were
working hard setting up. John Waters' ears were
going to be an easy fetch.

Every day I saw scenes play out, just as
in his movies but John was never about.

- Three very young girls that looked like
they were dressed for the movie, oops
they went into Shockers to buy a glass
pipe to smoke some rockers'.

- It was obvious a young daughter, dressed
in hip huggers,a belly shirt and pierced
belly button, too. Mom was being raised by
the daughter on how to be cool. When Mom
asked which one I liked better, I said,
"Mam, I'm just not that kind of fool."
"A Dirty Shame", has now become lame.

-A heroine addict prostitute walks up and bums a cigarette,
I declined her offer, I will never be that desperate.
She needs some, "Polyester," to cover up her
parchment scarred arms with scabs and festers.

-Everyday is an olfactory adventure, there's
that many more scents and they're grosser. That
movie's scratch and sniff, "Odorama card;"
in a remake would have to be a poster.

-Though we don't put them out anymore,
"Pink Flamingos," has lost its shock
value, its scenes now are an everyday show.

-I saw a, "Neuter-like" squabble, John Waters and
his director had to be there. I finally didn't fail.
It was a bunch of kids that wanted to fight me,
because if I touched them, "I'd go to jail."
They found out that I didn't care, because I'm
not going to get beaten up, I was there! Across
the ring leader's face within an inch came my
cat-like swoop. He got the message, his eyes bugged
and I think his pants he did poop.

- I caught a glimpse of a bus, in it they
filmed as it went up the street. Right
after they passed a naked woman threw out
her husband's bed into the middle of it,
saying he found someone new to meet.

They were wrapping up and asked me if I
got to talk to John. I said I tried, but
finding the movie on Harford Road, was an
adventure that wasn't fun.

He was surprised every day was like, "Hairspray."
Expressing shock, this grip from LA.

It's a really dirty shame when a spoofy sexuality
based comedy becomes just an ordinary everyday
drama that everyone gets to see.

When you come to Balimore, Hon. Walk away
from the harbor, you will see this type of fun.

Research- Baltimore Sunpappers, The International Movie Database (IMDb)

Baltimore- Intentional mispelled for the accent and local flavor.

The reason that I have wrote this is because of the many articles of news that I read in the Sunpapers every day. This time I am not complaining about the reporting, but about what is being reported. In one month, several teachers in the city schools have been severely assaulted by out of control teens. The principle of the school blamed the teacher for not properly using mediation and anger management techniques. The head of the schools is asking for 500 volunteers to take the load of off the teacher. If I volunteer, I would be immediately challenged and put that kid down. I would have everyone's respect but the authority's would destroy it, by carting me off to jail. The Sunpapers also reported about a trial involving several teenagers that dragged a woman out of the bus and almost beat her to death.

For the first time, in the Judge's statement was content that my father had tried to get out and expose for twenty-five years. He worked in Juvenile Justice and was punished for trying to help society and getting the true condition of that agency to the public. When I was in my horrible juvenile situation, the police actually told me, "Short of them killing you, we can not do anything. We are not allowed to to lock them up." I suggested they all go public and they said they can't. Obviously the police unions are only around for raises.

I believe that the Baltimore Police are conscientious and do their job well and to their best of their ability. But with so many problems, they have to prioritize, I do what I can to keep the things in check. I am far from fearless, but I will supply them with intelligence. Not the everyday bickering they get over everything. I tolerate things to the point that this behavior starts affecting other people in their everyday life. One time a scene played out worthy of one of John Waters movies. At a bus stop there was a group of black students and one feeling his oats, yelled out, "Hey, are you a bigot." Next thing you know all of the black boys were pumping their fists and I heard, "Yea, we think you a bigot, Come on! We'll take care of you!" Hell, I was game and walked up to them, about half of the boys backed down; I screamed in the ringleader's face, as if I'm from the deep south, "Yeah boy, I'm a bigot. In fact I'm so much of one I even hate myself." They didn't know what to make of that statement, which was my observation of an actual Klu Klux Klan member. The girls at the stop got it, they started laughing and told the boys, "Hey! He ain't no bigot, but I would be messing with him." I chatted with the girls for a while to the chagrin of the boys, proving that I wasn't one. Also demonstrating how to be.

There are two problems with juvenile services; one, there are no placements and the other is their philosophy. It is making a group of kids that they think can do anything they want and not get into trouble. My stepdaughter ran away working herself into people's houses by saying that I had abused her. I figured that they got what they deserved when their house got cleaned out, I had to deal with threats from her, her friends, drug dealers (or at least people who fancied they were and even a Baltimore County Sheriff, who's wife was helping her to run away. It was a comment by him that he would put me in a system to violate a warrant and he'd shoot me placing on of his illegal guns in my hands. With this situation, my authority was removed by the police, making me leave my own house, telling me in front of her what I couldn't do and telling me that I can't lock her out of her own bedroom. I finally had enough and declared war, it wasn't worth fighting a crazy person that wanted to go to jail to rest up from the teenagers to come out stronger.

I am always interested in production and went looking for him to see him work and shoot his movie. Security was very cordial and gave me the schedule and where he would be. That always didn't hold true, but I understood. The other reason I didn't find him was because I was working sixteen and even eighteen hour day. Not being to catch up and take the time out, save for one opportunity, when I watched him for half an hour setting up for a ten second roll. I love the hub bub for the crowd. Security let me check the camera angle and I settle for what I would do about a foot lower. Then I realized I was on all fours in front of him and attracted his and the directors attention. Not in the position I wanted to be around him. They lowered there shoot and start backing people away. One lady was ecstatic because she thought Tracey Ullman was in their naked, I laughed silently to myself because I figured they were eliminating unwanted reflections. The little shot was worth me being late to work.

The most notable John Waters movies are Hair Spray and Polyester, staring Devinne. I also watched, "A Dirty Shame," and it was mockingly similar to my life with this marriage. But I didn't need an appearance from David Hasselhoff to drop in on me. I just wore it like a hat. My opinion of his movies is that I find the insulting on my beliefs, but he does mock hypocrisy and something in them to always make me laugh. There is a gross-out aspect as well. I enjoy his characters.

John is also thought of a a local celebrate, but his work with movies is expansive including; writing, acting, directing and producing. He appears to have his hand, somewhere along the line in every aspect of making a movie.
