Soul Mates

by Mike K2

Souls have existed long
within time's expanse.
Kissed with life, with
meetings more than happenstance.

This sense of knowing is some-
thing that crosses both's minds.
Spirits trapped within a new
life, feelings may not be returned
in kind.

Deep within the gaze, it might come
on, animal like and very powerfully;
exciting within one, the passion to
greet each other more fully...

Or as a subtler sense of just
needing to greet them.
The other lends a clue as if
always friends, just chatting again.

~Soulmates~

Always feel when the other feels pain,
whether a surrounding fog or pouring rain.

They never want the other to hurt,
only wanting to comfort,
a duty they don't shirk.

They only want the other to have
and feel their best.
Praying to God, that with His
touch they are blest.

Their souls work to get them to
cross the other's path.
Compelling them to seek
something more that would last.

Their souls comfort them as limits,
which in this life, are imposed.
But hoping that somehow, they
are there for the other when
it is so disposed.

Souls never forget, as they
meet through out life's scenes.
Also, they meet when both are
at rest to romp about
within a dream.

Form Merriam-Webster's On line Dictionary.

Main Entry: soul mate
Function: noun
Date: 1822
1 : a person who is perfectly suited to another in temperament
2 : a person who strongly resembles another in attitudes or beliefs

However, I am writing of a deeper concept of one's soul, possibly actually being a soul which is an individual vehicle with some form of interaction. All I can say is that this is just a sense that I have. One knows deja vu, I am speaking of a deeper sense that a person was meant to be in one's life, or that the imagination yields that they were known before. Last, this poem is not really meant to compete with any religious or idealogical belief. Personally, I leave Heaven undefined in my life because I think it is expansive beyond our imagination. In reference to reincarnation, I have read several theories and beliefs as I have of spirit worlds, I have never been comfortable with embracing one, yet haven't dismissed their existence either. I simply include it within God's realm.
