Re-Write it YOUR Way
Challenge
The topic for this contest is: RE-WRITE IT YOUR WAY
There are three phases to this contest:
1) You are to select a short story, fairy tale, bible story, fable, folk tale, children's story, etc that you really like. This story should have 1200 words or less, but at least 600. We do not want it to be too short.
2) You will type the story you selected exactly the way it is written to include the title and the author(s) name(s). No copy write infringement intended. It is merely for us, the viewers, to read in order to compare it with the story you are going to write. Once you have selected it and finished typing it out, please leave extra space or place a line of some sort (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) to divide it from the story you are going to write. There just needs to be some indication (without having to read the last line) that the story you selected is finished and yours will begin.
3) You are going to re-write that same story but in YOUR STYLE. It will be similar yet different. Let me give you some examples.....Perhaps the story you like begins with MANY MANY YEARS AGO IN A LAND FAR FAR AWAY LIVED A LITTLE GIRL NAMED CINDERELLA. Your story can begin as such MANY MANY LIGHT YEARS AWAY ON A PLANET CALLED BUDACHING LIVED A LITTLE ROBOT NAMED KORUNK...........or if you really like Goldilocks and the Three Bears.....instead use A KOI AND THREE GOLDFISH; instead of porridge being too hot or too cold then just right, you could have fish food being too soggy or too hard then just perfect. You will go through each sentence; each paragraph of the story you like and re-write it....keeping it similar, but making it different. I hope I am explaining this enough to make you understand what it is exactly that I am looking for. Your story should have at least 600 words but no more than 1200 as well.
The main focus of this contest is that YOU will rewrite the story you have selected by changing the main characters and what is happening within the story itself to make it your own. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to write me. I want this so be fun and not difficult.
Creative approaches are welcomed. But contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
Minimum Length for the original story (to be included for us, the viewers, to read and have it to compare with your re-write of the story) is 600 words. Maximum Length 1200 words. Minimum Length for your re-write of the story is also 600 words. Maximum Length is also 1200 words.
