~ two grammatically-connected lines in lines 1&2 and lines 4&5
~ line 3 (a fragment) is the pivot line and must be able to be read with both the first two lines and the second two lines
~ present tense
~ personification allowed
~ very minimal punctuation
~ capitalisation for proper names only
~ NO....
*NO word-end additions of -ing or -ly
*NO rhyme
*NO alliteration
*NO author's notes
*NO pictures/artwork
