RiRchard Stickney: 50 Caliber Richard Stickney I dreamed a dream with a fifty caliber Somehow it was grafted into my skin As I breathed it breathed I was the brain and the muscle of this weapon It would not go away It was heavy at first As I traveled it became lighter and lighter It grew into me and became part of my flesh My blood gave it energy and life Strange - A lethal crutch A grey arm with talons of rounds There was no need for a Mark 4 scope My eyes were its eyes My Light 50 Bull Pup kicked backed hard It shook my spine - My heels were the muzzle brake I could not put it down - It would not release The image of it became the image of me It seemed quite normal My right arm, my left arm and my 50 caliber arm I am a warrior but I did not know what this vision meant Why was this attached to me? Before me was a sea It was full of eyes and spirits The eyes of those that had felt the terror and the tearing I felt the horror of what the Medics witnessed when they first confronted the exit wounds I thought of Jay - I thought of John - I thought of Walt I saw a muddy hell in Asia I heard choppers and I felt screaming I listened to its lethal rounds ripping through the trees well before the sound arrived This is a sound that you never forget I ran but it would not go away It never goes away I felt a disturbing presence I witnessed the spirits of fear and hunger The spirits of desperation and disregard I was not ashamed of it's presence I felt it's power - I could not understand Why did I ever like that feeling I wonder? Why do I still like that feeling? It is ancient - It comes from long ago Cain What have we become and what will become of us? The thin line changes quickly Are we men or are we what we hold in our hands? Cold steel made from sunken battleships and submarines? Spirits imprint Every second of time is kept Go figure - Pull the trigger We got to do better than this Erase this bloody dream and replace this 50 with flowers Understand the bonds that we have formed with each other Live life and love easily Embrace it while you have it Don't waste it Taste it and pass the cup around Give it away and pass it on What are we here for I wonder? Answer that question if you can Find out why we ever existed Solve that riddle and you will break into what is to come What is to come is nothing like what came before Past, present and future co-exist They all exist at once Blows my mind |
