L E Scott: It has been an interesting experience, but I am not sure this is worth the monthly subscription cost. If, and that's a big if, I stayed and won the contest which ends in January, I'd have invested half of the winnings just in keeping my account open. I don't feel like people give honest reviews most of the time (either because they're being nice or because they're afraid of backlash). I'm looking for a writing community that helps me grow as a writer, which includes some negative feedback. Although it is nice to feel like my work is being appreciated, it's not nice to have to get up on the judging stool and rate another author's work, especially if that other author is probably just going to disregard my advice anyway. |

As for reviews and reviewers, some of what you say is spot on, but there are those of us who do pay closer attention to the details and can help a writer improve. Negativity shouldn't be a part of it, but constructive, helpful critiques. It takes time to find people with your shared interest of improving, but we're out there. -
Lasting friendships Meeting members from other countries A job as a editor for a friend's company; other jobs as an editor, although I don't do it anymore. A close friendship with someone of like tastes with whom I co-wrote part of a book before she past away. The benefit of some great reviews A number of fans who shared their ideas with me It takes time to get to know people, and you haven't been here long enough. Also, we pay for our memberships through reviewing. I never recommend anyone use real money. -

L E Scott: Thinking that when the contest voting happens that your own work should be eliminated from your choices so no one can vote for themselves. I decided not to vote for myself (but then again I didn't get any votes). Also, how many other people vote on these contests? Hopefully not just people who entered. |

Do you believe those running for office ALWAYS vote for the other guy? Many elections are won, or lost, by one vote. -

L E Scott: Does anyone know anything about the banner certificate? I don't remember seeing any banners on the site, but after I won one I looked up what it was and it said they post them on the site (at least that's how I understood it). |

L E Scott: Sometimes I read something I don't like and I skip it because I can't say why I don't like it and I'm not sure how it can be improved. Does anyone else do this? |

L E Scott: Wondering if there's anyone here who gives harsh reviews. Seems like everyone is always so nice not giving reviews if they think the piece is unworthy to receive a four or five star rating. |

L E Scott: Thinking this site reminds me a little of a place I used to go called Helium that shut down. |
