helenhgordon: I have paid for membership; am I being recognized as a member? I am stimulated a lot by Fanstory, but I'm confused about how one progresses and especially how one can earn $$$ and points. Question 1: I have submitted some very good poems that did not win, which is okay, but can I now submit them again for a similar contest (especially true for one I have edited according to reviewer suggestions)? This applies especially to syllable and word-count poems. Question 2: Also, I have written some very good reviews for other poets, on which I spent a lot of time, but I don't know whether they are being judged on merit or just because the recipient nominated them. If the latter, is it appropriate to ask the reviewed poet to consider nominating me? Most of the responses to my reviews have been very positive, so I feel confident that I might win some rewards to have $$$ to spend on new contest entries. Question 3. However, is it true that members don't have to pay the entrance fees for contests? I am a member, but how does that get recognized? Question 4. What does it mean to click on "promote this poem"? Am I promoting my own poem or one I have reviewed? Thanks for your help and your FanStory opportunities. |

helenhgordon: I've been trying for two hours to sign up for Fan Story and enter the 75-word contest, but have been led on wild goose chases about passwords, emails, and rejection of my addition of 8+8 and 2 other "tests" that tell me my addition is wrong, when it isn't. I will try again; meantime here is my 75 word entry, due today. Selma?s Goodbye as Hostess Selma couldn?t digest food anymore, so she invited friends to dinner. Food would go right through her, undigested by her 96-year-old body. She accepted that her life was ending, but she deplored waste, of food or money. In her retirement community, dinners were included in her rent. So each evening for a week she set out a linen tablecloth, fine china, napkins, and silverware for one friend, who ate the dinner and enjoyed her company. |
