rob50ert: I am thinking of running a writing contest. I have built a Board Game called ULTIMATE FOOTBALL. It has an imaginary League associated and I need individual back stories on each team. I would provide the Name of the Team and a brief History of their record. I would be looking for a couple of paragraphs (fits on one 5 x 8 page). The more outlandish the better, but still partially believable. See example below. Although your "story" would not be published in the usual sense, it would be available as an online booklet on my web site for any and all to read. You would of course have name recognition on your page for your contribution. Tell me what you think and if you would have interest in this type of contest. Example: Yukon Grizzly?s Located in the beautiful picturesque paradise of Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, Grizzly Stadium is the home of the Yukon Grizzly?s UFL Franchise. The Grizzly?s franchise was granted in the 2007 expansion of the Continental League, with the completion of the Canadian Undergrounder. A railways system running through 12,000 miles of tunnels under the Canadian Rockies and connecting all of the major cities in western Canada. It allows visitors of this beautiful picturesque paradise to travel in relative comfort aboard vintage steam locomotives that wiz along at an average of 32 miles per hour. Under contractual obligation with the league, every railway car has a communal shower (to help one get rid of the soot and oil which accumulates in the far reaches of the tunnel) as well as 5 communal gas masks available for your breathing comfort. There is even a smoking car, although to our knowledge no one has ever actually used it yet. When you get off the train in Whitehorse, you enter Grizzly Stadium and are treated to any one of its beautiful picturesque 5,000 seats (first come first serve) to watch a contest of skill and determination performed by the Yukon Grizzly?s, the best Professional Football Team in the Canadian Wilderness. The Grizzly?s have not won a Championship yet, but they have had several wins in their history. In 2012 they had a banner year with a 4 win and 12 loss record.
