Tina Concetta : Sorry all, I've been away and now we're in the middle of preparing a move in a few weeks. Been crazy. Promise to get on here and catch up with everyone's writings and do some reviewing... soon, soon... promise! (have gotten NO writing done myself... urgh)


Tina Concetta : So, if I just posted a chapter and kind of chopped it in half cause it was getting long. Should I just add the other half and word count be damned... or keep it chopped so I have a better chance of getting it read??? hmmm, what to do, what to do...

    Just keep the length of each chapter optimum. In order to get more reviews, you should try to keep it around 2000 words in each chapter. If a chapter is too long, reviewers may skip it. However, it also depends on one's reading habits. -
    Tina Concetta : Thanks for the info. I kind of thought that a longer chapter might not get reviews, so I did cut it, but then got a comment that the chapter didn't end with you wanting to turn the page... but it really was just the best place to break the chapter. I may just try the longer version and see what happens. Guess I could always break it back up again. -
    Little Miss History: I think long passages discourage some reviewers, but if you feel that that story just can't be chopped without sacrificing then keep it intact. -
    djsaxon: The lengthy read is challenging certainly but if you do choose to chop, do just that. Be careful of the contrived 'page turner'. They can paint you into a corner. -
    Tina Concetta : Thanks everyone. I'll try to keep the chapters shorter. It just kills me to break it in a bad place. I guess I'll take the chance that it will get read. The first couple of chapters will probably be the longest ones. I think the rest will tighten up as I go along... hopefully!

Tina Concetta : I'm a new writer. I've just submitted my first short story to a contest. I'm also new here at Fanstory and trying to understand all the machinations. Seems kind of complicated. Guess I'll just see how it flies. Looks like it doesn't have a chance of being reviewed unless you pay to promote. I used most of my member dollars to do that. Kind of bugs me that I put in all that work to enter a contest and I have to pay for anyone to see it.
