Brandon Austin: when I was little at the age of one I was diagnose with asthma which prevented me from attending school and I always have to breath this gas just to keep my lungs going, I was not the type of child who can build self confidence plus I was the type of child who was very quite . when I came back to school I couldn't cutch up with the other students I was left behind , many people would criticize me by calling me "stupid" and I remember one of my teacher said in class she said" hhmm Brandon not the smartest in the class!" , I act like it does not hurt but it does . By the time in primary 3 I only knew how to read , my mother beg the teachers to push me to another level and she even have the struggle to find many helps for me because she was worried that I would not have a future , she even called two helps but they were not successful to help me . In 2002 there was this teacher , his name is Joel Medina and he came from the Philipines and my mom heard about him and came to him , my mom said to him " can you please help my son , im worried that he wont have a future " then my mom cried and teacher Joel held my mom's hand and said to her "don't worry I will make your son read by the second " , then my mom put her faith in him . When I went to teacher Joel's house for tutoring I said to myself that im worthless and I cant do anything good in life but teacher Joel make me feel valued , he gave me a book to learn how to read which is published in the Philipines and so I began learning with him by pronouncing the words like keh~ and deh~ , so I finish reading the first book and we move on to the second book and then we move on to the final book , at the end of the book in the last page I found a picture of the virgin marry and I was very shock because I can read ! Even two helps gave up on me in my depressing times , Teacher Joel is like a miracle worker in my life just like the story of Hellen Keller who thought the blind and the deaf .My mom ask teacher Joel, "why did you study special education ?" and teacher Joel replied " I studied special education is because of my daughter , your son was like my daughter and as a father I have to help her ". When teacher Joel left the school in 2004 without saying goodbye , I didn't get the chance to say 'thank you' to him but I thank God for bringing him into my life because without him I don't know what would happen to me today .He is my inspiration because he never give up on me and he is such a patient man , I gain something from him which is 'PATIENCE', because the teachers who thought me have no patience with me , we only can learn if there is patience ! without patience nothing will be absorb in our head ! I felt that he was an angle sent by God , he has done a good deed .This quote is related to my story which is "if you need me but don't want me then I have to stay but if you want me but no longer need me then I have to go , saying goodbye is not my thing because saying goodbye means we don't see each other anymore but we will one day ".
