beccabootie123: just approved the final markup of my book it should hit the shelves in two weeks. what a process it has been maddening at times. be aware with createspace they do not offer the trim size that is typical paperback 4x5 or thereabouts if anyone is going to that process. they will let you have that size but then for some reason they will not market it on their site. don't know why. my best to all. adele neb how are you

beccabootie123: well my book is done, its gone through two edits and now someone is just doing a final read through to see if it flows. I hope so. I hope to get it to publisher on monday or tuesday of this week. they say it should be released four weeks after since the editing is done. I hope I am well enough to market, have set up a signing at career day for the local nursing college from which I graduated. but of late chemo has been kicking my butt.     nor84: Nobody cares about points, which are offered by the certificates. So, buy a certificate when you post your work and add a few member cent pumps to increase the member dollar payout to the reviewer. We do care about member dollars. -

    redrider6612: Authorhouse is notorious for failing to pay royalties. Run their name with the word "scam" and you will find numerous items. -
    nor84: Do your homework regarding any publisher. Check Preditors and Editors website before signing up. Query the publisher name with the word scam.

    If you self-publish with ANYBODY, it's probable you won't make your money back unless you work to promote your book. -
    unimatrix001: The golden rule of publishing is "money flows to the author," which means the author should not pay a publisher to have thier work published.
    If you are going to self publish, then you have to really do your homework. One successful self publisher I know, ensures sales through libraries.
    Talk to writers who self publish if that is the route you want to take. Don't talk to publishers or agents. Writers who have been successful is the only honest source.
    Conventions are good places to meeting successful writers, as they will be there holding panels and promoting their work. -
    Danicm: I self published on createspace. You get a portion of your list price, but they do pay you.. and it was so easy, that I was able to do it;) -
    vapros: I'm reluctant to go into this. The publisher you mentioned - is this one of the vanity presses, where you have to pay to have your book published? If so, your chances are not good, as a lot of them don't offer the services an author needs. They don't do your editing, or even your proofreading, and no promotion to speak of. All they do is print and bind. I hope this is not what you are facing, but for many, many writers, this is the only way they will ever see their work in print. Good luck. -
