I feel like I need a more unconventional site (per se), somewhat/plus much more unorthodox, maybe?

Eh...

February 4, 2015 at 1:59AM
Linda Engel: your writing is good . Have you been getting bad reviews or not enough critique? maybe just try two different sites for send your work off to Reviews and Anthologies for reviews and /or possible publishing. That will give you an really clear view of your work.
    February 4, 2015 at 9:32AM
JPilcher: Bad reviews is not my issue, no. ;)

It's my # of reviews, of course.. I don't have enough time to review ALL DAY LONG (let alone submit 2 of what I consider to be worthy enough to post writings - especialy PER DAY!), & not enough money to just spend it to promote for some ranking based on..... Well, that pretty much.

Maybe I'm just whiney tonight. Who knows. Lol. ;)

    February 5, 2015 at 11:25PM
Michaelk: I've been having the same crisis. No time to write or review, but if you don't review then you don't get the money to promote your writing.
I've come up with a simple solution that I'm going to try to stick to:
Review a little when I can, write a little when I can, When I'm ready to post, post. If I don't have enough money to promote it, then I won't promote it. Two or three reviews for that work will have to do.
The rankings seem like a good idea, but if you don't have the money to post then don't even bother looking at the rankings because you won't go very far. Just accept the reviews as being helpful and learn from them.

It's almost becoming a joke.....

February 1, 2015 at 1:48AM

    February 1, 2015 at 4:16AM
William Walz: What? My marriage or my hippie lifestyle?
    February 1, 2015 at 10:01AM
JPilcher: I have both - many of them, actually. Lmao.
    February 4, 2015 at 1:57AM

JPilcher:

Something tells me things are about to get interesting... :O .. Oh and I also think this makes for the best time to inform anyone who may require such advance notices:

This lady has quite the potty mouth on her. She might as well have been raised by the sailor himself even. Consider that an extra special advanced warning (yes, you'll get another one too, don't worry). LOL. ;) <3

Selina Stambi: That's our DIS ... the Maestro of DIS-sing. (Maybe your Muse has run away to join the circus??)
    January 17, 2015 at 6:10PM

JPilcher:

If you've posted work anytime between yesterday & today (that I know of at least - as far as what to look for), check out your total reviews received. Make sure the # reflecting actually ='s what you truly got.

I reported it earlier, but don't think they follow what I was trying to relay.

PS- By Don't think I mean - don't. ;) <3

    December 21, 2014 at 11:09PM
JPilcher: They still think I'm crazy, which is fine - 'cause I totally am. However, for the times I've had to contact them (more than once!) to tell them there's a problem with something - I should be on the payroll now frankly. :-P
    December 24, 2014 at 1:10AM

Does anyone use any other sites, in addition to FanStory? If so, message me. Just curious.. ;)

December 21, 2014 at 2:34AM

    December 21, 2014 at 11:08PM

JPilcher:

Anyone catch the recent writing prompt "Inside the mind of Dean Kuch"?? You know, mostly out of laziness, I tend to stay away from stories (it seems I like to stick to mostly semi-short & mostly more in the PROSE corner type of stuff, which I believe to be a genetic disorder for the recorder). For some reason though - this one is just calling my name. Hmmmm... ;)

December 17, 2014 at 12:17AM
shelley kaye: inside dean kuch's mind??

    be afraid! be very afraid!!

    ;-)

Michaelk: You'd better reserve a spot if you intend to join this contest. Six spots are taken already.
    December 17, 2014 at 3:06PM
JPilcher: I know I know but... Ugh!! Such poor timing - if I may say so myself (& am!)!!! Deadline of Jan. 30th though, right?? Impeccable memory but it could be mixing dates up with Lord only knows what else. On a completely separate note - I was totally/NOT AT ALL inspired by a recent writing prompt I caught tonight .

Anyone vote on anything yet today?

There are a handful of booths open & some really good stuff out there, that you're potentially missing out on!!

I personally started to set aside time to make sure this is something I'm actively participating in. After all, if I'm not even doing it, why should I expect others to be, right? GO VOTE!!! ;) <3

December 16, 2014 at 4:50PM
JPilcher: Too busy voting to comment I assume. Well, now that's good, isn't it? ;)

shelley kaye: love that song! this video was great. next time though.... use the "embed" code (just sayin' lol)

granny goes viral: I could not read most of the signs. But I loved the message. If you could get some professional (type) help with the signage, this could go viral.
    December 15, 2014 at 9:22PM
granny goes viral: Could not read most of the signage. Either too small, or too quick. But this is terrific.
    December 15, 2014 at 9:23PM
Domino 2: Hey, you look a bit like Madonna in the video, Jill.

Love your voice and the song. Did you write it?

Trouble was I couldn't read most of the signs - writing too small and you move them out of shot too fast.

I'll pop round later (with some wine) for your autograph. ;-)

JPilcher: I have no clue why it only worked right the one time.. I did it
The same each time (was messing around with it obviously).

Thanks to everyone who watched though!!! :)
    December 11, 2014 at 12:00PM
JPilcher: GrannyGV - just saw your comments about the video & I couldn't agree more (obviously!)!! It may come some day, but at the time it was just a thing I had to do RIGHT THEN. Impulse girl right here (likely obvious as well! LOL!)!! However, if you shoot me your email - I did lay out all my cards on my kitchen floor & took a fun pic so that everyone could them awhile back... I could send it to you if you're interested. You're really making me want to do a 4th take of that video now though!!!! :O

As it turns out... When you create a Diatelle (& for the first time - go me! Lol!!), you cannot simply switch up the FOURTEENTH LINE to not rhyme with the 2nd. Yes, no matter how bad it sucked. LOL.

I'll keep my imperfect perfect Diatelle the way it is though. THX. ;)

I wonder what Tom looks like when he's going through reading his support inquiries, and what face he might be making when he gets yet another one of mine. LOL.

Hey - at least they are genuine support requests, okay?! :)

November 28, 2014 at 11:14PM
Imogen JH: He's probably saying things like.

    "Thicko's don't they even read the FAQ's?
    November 29, 2014 at 5:08AM
BeasPeas: I think they are all named Tom in customer support.
    November 29, 2014 at 8:36AM
crzypnter: Tom, might be just a name for some machine. Seems like that's all you get these days. Lol
    November 29, 2014 at 12:53PM
granny goes viral: Tom is the Great Oz. A computer behind a curtain. Hi Tom.
    November 29, 2014 at 4:15PM
JPilcher: Lolol!! You all just totally cracked me up just now!!!
    November 29, 2014 at 7:05PM

JPilcher:

TOOOOMMMMMMM!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!?

I want my certificate that I just bought so badly - but it disappeared on me!!! LOL... Not THAT worried though, Tom will fix it!!! :)

November 26, 2014 at 5:13PM

I'm just getting warmed up Dean.. Trust me on that. LOL. ;)

November 20, 2014 at 9:16PM

Just a tad annoying that my profile pic doesn't update immediately... Just saying. LOL. ;)

November 10, 2014 at 1:01AM
    JPilcher: It never updated!!!!!! :O
    November 10, 2014 at 11:42PM

It helps, if you set your work to preview, then also release it at some point. LOL. What a dork I can be!! :O

JPilcher:

For probably the first time in my life, I actually had to get out some creativity/inspiration, in order to get housework done & some bills paid. Normally, it's I have to do that, in order to get creativity & inspiration. LOL.

Anyone want to see a fun video? ;) Seriously though... Check it out. You HAVE TO hold out until the end though, that's my favorite part!

JPilcher:

Can someone please tell me why the majority of people don't use the content sharing option? Legally, I don't see a valid argument, but I'm always willing to entertain any argument so.... ;)

November 7, 2014 at 6:39PM
Kingsland: That means that what you write on this site is available anywhere for anyone to read on the net...
    November 7, 2014 at 8:10PM
michaelcahill: I think that some publishers frown on it. The current contest for a publishing deal states that we must choose 'no' to that option or we are disqualified.
    November 7, 2014 at 8:39PM
nor84: And what THAT means is that if you ever want to submit work to a publisher, they may find it on the web and see that as "previously published."

If you plan to self-pub, probably no problem.
    November 7, 2014 at 8:40PM
JPilcher: So............... No legal/valid arguments, right? I get where everyone is coming from, but I'm not living some dream of being a super huge well known published "anything". However, on that same note, I can still be just that. My only frustration sits where people are too paranoid to think the same maybe. Not that you don't know otherwise or better - but that you were made to think that somehow. That's all.
    November 8, 2014 at 4:24AM
JPilcher: michaelcahill - VERY interested in your comment. Feel free to message me. ;)
    November 8, 2014 at 4:28AM

JPilcher:

I'd like to first of all, thank Linda, for becoming a "fan" when I wasn't well (per se), and when I'm sure she knew I wasn't but was still willing to get to know me.

I'd like to 2nd that with Pat, whom I've since learned is so much life me, regardless of our age differences and last but not least.....

Welcome Warren... ;)

I never wanted "more friends", nor would I solicit them, but I've found some good ones here. Even ones that aren't my "fans" - yet. ;)

November 6, 2014 at 11:17PM

JPilcher:

I was put out of commission yesterday afternoon & again today so - time to take care of myself!! I'll be back to reading and writing here soon though - I promise!!! :) <3 Jill

November 4, 2014 at 5:44PM
    patcelaw: Get better soon Jill.
    November 5, 2014 at 1:11PM
    JPilcher: Better!! Thank you!!!

JPilcher:

I was very much unfortunately, inspired to write today, by a trip to Urgent Care for a horrific migraine. 2 shots & some R and R = "Dear Migraine". Work with what you got I guess. ;)

November 1, 2014 at 11:09PM
shelley kaye: ouch. i feel your pain. migraines can be really bad :-(
    November 2, 2014 at 11:08AM
JPilcher: Thanks Shelley!! Yes, it was one that required "special attention" - those are the worst!!! :(

I'm doing some more R&R today... I can't push it. Pushing it seems to be the cause of half my problems!!!! ;)
    November 2, 2014 at 2:49PM

JPilcher:

Major props to Tom from FanStory - I've caused that man so many inquiries he's probably wishing I didn't have back my "mojo" (J/K!)... But seriously, that's an amazing response time & fabulous Customer Care - just saying. :)

October 27, 2014 at 11:58PM

JPilcher:

I've been reading some amazing stuff people!!! Either I'm lucky or there is A LOT of amazing writers here!!!!! ;)

October 26, 2014 at 6:08PM
William Walz: You must mean you read a lot of amazing writing, and THEN logged on to Fanstory.
    October 26, 2014 at 7:29PM
William Walz: Don't be mad. I'm really quite stupid, and I'm only eight.
    October 26, 2014 at 7:30PM
JPilcher: I highly doubt you're eight, and not sure why that would make ME mad. Plus, it takes a lot more than that. However, you are sarcastic - and you just met the Queen. Good luck to ya!! ;)
    October 26, 2014 at 7:53PM
William Walz: I lied. I'm as sharp as a tack, and I'll be ten next month!
    October 26, 2014 at 8:22PM
JPilcher: Oh Bull.. Oops.. I mean Oh Bill.. Why lie?
    October 26, 2014 at 11:16PM
JPilcher: Quite the "resume" btw Bill.. :)
    October 26, 2014 at 11:19PM
patcelaw: I see he is bugging others too. Been hit a few times with him as well. I guess some people just don't have more important things to do.
    October 27, 2014 at 1:13PM
    JPilcher: A-Men! ;)
    October 27, 2014 at 3:59PM

JPilcher:

Sitting at my kitchen table, icing my knee, but totally ready to read/review some more great stuff!!!

PS- I don't care what anyone says.. Skating IS for 35 yr. olds too. Period. ;)

October 25, 2014 at 11:35PM

JPilcher:

Time for an updated profile pic... That other girl in the picture was happy, but she wasn't too so... ;)

October 25, 2014 at 12:02AM
JPilcher: "Image shown can take up to 24 hours to update"... Seriously? No comment (other than that non-comment anyhow.. lol). ;)
    October 25, 2014 at 12:21AM

JPilcher:

GUESS WHO FOUND THEIR MOJO?!? That's right... I did!!! Technically, I don't think I really ever had it in the 1st place (or for many years at the very least!) - but I do now. Trust that!!!!! <3

October 24, 2014 at 11:09PM

JPilcher:

I'm back... Not sure my "mojo" is though... Hopefully I find that time we all talk about not having to do whatever it is & I just sit down & take advantage of it again. :)

April 26, 2013 at 12:14AM

JPilcher:

I am SO GLAD that I finally took the leap & started to read & review others as so many have been kind enough to do for me... I've read some AMAZING things in the past few weeks & am more than happy that I finally gave in & took that next step... :)

November 2, 2012 at 10:20PM
Sally Carter: Great stuff. This place is a wonderful learning environment. Hope the enjoyment continues.
    :~)
    November 3, 2012 at 5:42AM

    November 2, 2012 at 1:12AM

JPilcher:

Ahhhhhh... A break from "reality"... Enough time to focus on some more writing (& reading!! Lot's of good stuff from many MANY talented artists on here!!)... Long overdue!!! :)

October 31, 2012 at 9:05PM

JPilcher:

Really need to set aside some time for my writing... I'm missing it... Sometimes you mistake being too busy w/ no time to spare with just mixing up your priorities I think... Need to find that motivation again... :)

October 17, 2012 at 12:29AM

JPilcher:

I think I should start sharing some stuff with more of a positive spin before everyone thinks I'm a "Debby Downer" or something.. Lol. ;)

April 29, 2012 at 1:50PM

JPilcher:

My apologies in advance... I hate trying to review/rate other peoples work (in general) 'cause I know that I'm far from a professional & am more likely to look at whether or not I understand something vs. the nature or form or something but I'm more here to learn right now about my own writings than to try & judge anything else so... Just know I'm trying to get used to that. This is my 1st official day but I've already gotten enough feedback to understand the entire process more than I did before so... I'll get there. Right now I just want to focus on what I'm doing & how I can improve before even trying to review anyone else's work. :)

April 9, 2012 at 3:09AM
another jim: I think you'll find that many (maybe most) new FanStory members find critiquing others' work is more daunting than posting your own stuff and having it reviewed. Give yourself some time to get used to both, JPilcher. No reason to rush...

    Welcome to FS!
    April 9, 2012 at 7:05AM
JPilcher: Thank you... I needed that!! :)
    April 9, 2012 at 7:25PM
Linda England Bonam: Welcome to this site! Hope you have fun. I sure have!
    April 9, 2012 at 8:36PM

JPilcher:

I've been looking for something like FanStory FOREVER... Based on my first few experiences I'm pretty confident that my decision to join - was the right one. :)

From our own Sandra Leon-Gonzalez:

Introducing Life Through Poetry and Art. Enjoy poetry reflecting the highs and lows of life, but ultimately seeing the light in every situation.

Having experienced tough challenges and learning to bounce back from life’s inevitable setbacks, she desires to share hopefulness, even when it seems that all is lost.

These poems are about a life’s journey through self-evaluation, seeing oneself in a positive space while asserting self-empowerment, growth and acceptance of the “new you”. The author also points out that it is important to identify negative energy, deflect them in their path, and forge ahead to the best part of oneself while embracing the beauty of art and poetry.
