aiyoung3: Thought is free, or you are not. Words are used to express thought and create imagery; imagery aides understanding. I strive to create understanding through imagery in my poetry; with the power of words. In our day-to-day lives, we lose our freedom in our lack of understanding the power of our own language, of our words. Language is a tool of expression, a tool of freedom; but as one of my favorite poets Ani Difranco stated "every tool is a weapon, if you hold it right"...and this is what I strive to use language as, a mental tool turning against ignorance, and against denial. Words are beautiful, as long as we understand their power and not let it overtake us.

Writing (and painting), is where I find my freedom and where I refuse to let another think for me. I hope to connect with other artists (writers) who are open to being in a deep space, to those not afraid of themselves and their own feelings. :)
