kimistry101: One of my primary goals for every poem I write is to translate my raw emotions in such a way so that you, the reader, feel and experience the moment as I did. I find it beautiful when both reader and writer can feel 'in-sync'/harmony with each others emotions. To me this is when a poem is no longer just a grouping of words which follow some rhythm or rhyme, etc. At this point, when the reader really feels the story being told, the poem becomes a memory and memories live on forever. |

kimistry101: I'm broke, have bills, work a full-time AND part-time job, and always manage to find time for my passion for writing poetry. Tell me-How is it it fair that after 15 reviews, a poem is automatically awarded "Recognized" status. All it takes is having money or a ridiculous amount of time on your hands to buy or earn membership dollars then BAM! you're in the Top-Spot and rest-assured you'll get the amount of reviews necessary to earn this status. What about people that don't have excess amount of money and, what is that other non-existent thing for me called, oh yeah-FREE TIME? I know I seriously lack either...What about those whose poems are above and beyond average but never make it to the Top-Spots of FanStory.com. I feel this site needs to re-establish it's policies for ranking "Recognized" and "All Time Best" status and awards, or is it just me that feels this way? |

"Recognized" and "All Time Best" are awarded by the site and are based (mainly) on how many FS members review your work favorably. In my opinion, getting others to review your work is a function of time on the site, name recognition, number of fans, willingness/ability to promote one's work, and writing skill. Which of those factors is most or least important varies from writer to writer, but one thing remains true: It's your reviewers' critiques that will make you a better writer, not any resulting awards. So hang in there, don't get discouraged, and keep writing. As you become more familiar with how things work on FS, you'll realize that winding up in the "top spot" is a lot less important than honing your writing skills. -

Then use that money to promote my work, in order to reach the "recognized" and "All Time Best" list. Which in my opinion, means absolutely nothing! It just gives me something to do and I've been writing poetry for 30 years. In other words, if you don't have time to write reviews or the money to buy member dollars so that you can promote your work, it will never be seen!! Your poetry will be so far down on the list(without pormoting) that no one will ever read them. So, basically you have to buy the members reviews. It takes about 40 to 50 member dollars to reach "recognized" and over 60 member dollars to reach the "All Time Best" list. You would have to write about 75 reviews in order to build up 60 member dollars (averaging around 90 cents per review). That requires a lot of time and work just to get one of your poems to the All Time Best list. The bottom line is, unless you have a great deal of time or a great deal of money to buy member dollars, then what's the purpose? If you just want to learn more about writing poetry, you have to have the feedback from some of the great writers on this site. BUT, with no time or money for promoting your work-NO FEEDBACK. Good luck and Welcome!! -
