louparis: This is the last chapter in my autobiography titled Sand,Sea and Stars. I haven't been posting for a while because I am in the throes of picking up stakes for my return the the USA. It's amazing how much clutter a worldwide hobo like me can collect over fourty years.
I will look for my FS friends when I get set up in Providence, RI and can resume my humble thoughts again - probably in early october. I am looking forward to the football games at my old alma mater URI, and the NFL games on the telly.
See you all in a while. and pray the container ship outruns the September hurricanes.

Lou Paris is an internationalist.

He is a free-lance journalist, a consultant and speaker on economic development, culture and politics of the Middle East, North Africa and SE Asia. He has worked in over forty countries.

He seldom submits writings to agents and publishers: they rarely answer or take time to read submissions. Rather than waste creative time writing to agents and publishers he writes for himself, many friends and old colleagues. All have read his poems, short stories, biographies,
and novels, and have provided generous encouragement and praise.

His works include: Death Raft on the Tigris (a novel set in Iraq); Greenhorn's Pearl(a novel set in Malaya); Behind the Facade (a critical exposure of the consulting profession); Desert Sand and Stars (a biography and collection of true episodes in Libya, Algieria and Iraq); Jakob's Journey ( biography of a Swiss who immigrates to America in 1830 and becomes a prominant physician in Buffalo, NY.)

He is a proud New Englander with Huguenot heritage whose ancestor, Eduard Bompasse, landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621.He speaks English, German, French, fair italian and some Arabic. he is a University of Rhode Island graduate and has lived and worked in Paris,London, Brussels, Libya, Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaya, Vietnam, and now Switzerland, but will return to New England in 2011.

He is an ocean sailor (out of Naraganset Bay), a horse and dog lover, and builds museum-class, wooden, ship models (too small for him to sail to America.)

"Each poet paints a self-portrait in his writing. That portrait may be impressionistic, but it should really be Norman Rockwell clear."
Lou Paris

"The objective of a poem or story is not to mystify the reader with words and style, it is to convey a plot, an idea, or a moral clearly and un-obscured to the reader."
Lou Paris
