This is a very emotive true story. Your details are very well written, with soul, they seem to want to write in their own. This is great, to know of one of your family members. our story took me back, to that time. Thank you.

What a sad, but lovely story, Mary. But how wonderful that 1966, Harold, has now been immortalised in your story. Your family won't forget that young man now. There are so many young men who died in that war, and other wars, that are never brought home or remembered. So sad. I'm so glad you found out about him, the little bits about him getting drunk, improper dress, makes him more that just a number lying in a grave somewhere in a Canadian cemetry in France. Well done, my friend. Sandra xx

This is an interesting story. I especially like stories that are true.
I think it's great that your family tried so hard to find the history of this relative. A person who passes at such a young age, deserves to be remembered and mourned.
You presented your story in a matter of fact way, which is fine for the topic. i look forward to seeing some of your more creative work.

Knowing what he looked like is not nearly as important as knowing that he existed and that he did his part, making the ultimate sacrifice of surrendering his life in pursuit of victory for his country and his countrymen. That makes him a hero in my book.

This war story, #1966, is a compelling tale which is a piece of research that connects the violence of war, the heart of duty, and the love of family together.

Very interesting and how wonderful that you were able to find out that kind of history about your family. I think the picture helps narrate the poem. Very well done.

A very well-written war story. It is so sad that so many soldiers are buried in unmarked graves in foreign countries where their loved ones may never find them.
