I enjoyed reading this writing about the power of a song to transport you to a memory and situation from the past. That shows the power of music that can be used in a good way. Thanks for sharing your creativity in this writing. Bill

Quite often if we are looking for a roadmap in our lives, music plays a big part, funnily enough even though I'm a musician and songwriter, not so much in mine, usually a key time one's life, a song pops up at a strategic time. Hang on, Bus stop by the Hollies on the occasion of my first girl friend, well done, blessings Roy

Following the list of songs in the poem, I searched and listened to them all. Only a couple of them I am familiar to, most of them are new to me although that have been out there for a while. These songs are like loosing pearls , (the events the author exquisitely put them together become a beautiful jewellery, an everlasting song of life.

I've always thought that the nostalgic aspect of music, its ability to connect us emotionally with moments of time that are precious to us, is a big part of its appeal to us. I think back to the music I listened to as a kid, those romantic feelings that seem encapsulated in songs like 'Close to You,' or the Christmas songs we listened to in the candlelight in our house as kids, and they really bring to life those memories and feelings of those days. Your story articulates this nostalgia. estory

A very wel-written story about the music that has an influence on your life and the taste of music embedded inside of you that grow and change as you are getting older.

"Music is a world within itself, With a language we all understand."
Without music the world would not exist and as you say it is understandable by everyone in their inner world.
"As I've grown older I've noticed some songs will transport me back to the past like a time machine."
Yes! growing up there are songs that accompany us throughout our life and I prefer the Neapolitan ones and many other world classics. All events in our life have a reference song. Great Memories!

Love the way you've tied remembrances to the songs in our lives... that is so important to many of us out here!! ;) It's a well-written piece that I'm guessing a whole lot of readers will be able to relate to -- thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;)

Music is a comforting thing that can sidetrack feelings and moods. Songs can also trigger memories that transport us to days of yesteryear. Well written!

This account with all of the allusions will immediately draw the reader in. I remember when we would be at the locker in high school, people were humming one of two songs, for the most part. there were 2 radio stations. I'd often be humming a song & found the person next to me was humming the same song. This was a fun account. Thank you.

I enjoyed how you show how certain songs brought back memories for you, but also that it played an important part in your life and those of your parents.
It is a well written story not only of your musical memories but gives the reader a chance to think of their own.
Good luck in the contest.
