Hello anonymous

Excellent entry for the poem of hope writing prompt contest. You wrote a poem about hope in your own unique way.

Nice story about a young man with weight issues. It's very common in the USA

Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Awesome writing. As self acceptance broadened . Self doubt diminished. Your eyes tell lies I can look and see the real me. It's not easy being bullied. You lose sight of who you really are. It takes awhile to realize others perceptions doesn't define you.

My favorite lines come at the end:
"I will fly in the face of fragility.
Your eyes tell lies.
I can look and see the real me.
This writing is brave and powerful and should give encouragement to many.

Losing weight healthily and changing our diet for good is well worth all the benefits, and here this guy is happy. Those who carry extra pounds are often ridiculed by others which is a shame as they then eat comfort food and the cycle continues, a poignant write, love Dolly x

A very well-written poem about hope. We are all unique and that us what makes each one of us special in our own right. If we were all looking the same, having the same weight then we were robots with no soul or identity.

I know the sadness that comes when you look in the mirror and you see something that you don't like, but then it comes a moment when the image doesn't matter but what's inside:"What remains
after losses and gains
is worth the wait.
I have found how to be free -
moved on from self-hate.
I now am wise.
I will fly in the face of fragility.
Your eyes tell lies.
I can look and see the real me."

I enjoyed reading this poem. It's sad how people suffer from being overweight and teasing doesn't help, it just makes people feel worse and if an eating disorder is involved, it can cause havoc.

I like the style you used to write the poem too and I particularly enjoyed the last few lines which have a lot of beauty in them. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

I can relate to the Battle of the Bulge, I've been fighting it my whole life. Your poem rhymed, makes sense, and was entertaining. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe and stay healthy.
