I love how your era dialectal change was very consistent. I like your use of illusion. The reader will immediately be drawn. This is also a powerfully current issue. Imagine, some aspects of this fight still goes on today. I am voting for this one.

Almost 30 years before the US had the 19th amendment ratified; I learned something new reading this. What a revolutionary feeling it must have been for the women who fought so hard for the right!

Well done. I really enjoyed this reimagining of such an important event in history! I had no idea New Zealand was so forward thinking in 1893. Your author's notes were very informative as well!

This is a great response to the contest prompt, Mystery Writer. I love the image--perfectly matches the intent of the story. I could see everything you mentioned and got a great lesson in NZ history, too. You presented this well.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

I am so pleased you rated my story so highly. i am very proud that little New Zealand was advanced enough in its thinking to value the opinions of women by granting the right to vote so much earlier than other countries.

This history story, Gaining the Vote for Women, is a cool look back to something people should never take for granted or allow to be taken from them.

This is great, and so true. I'm a Kiwi too, and I'm very impressed by Jacinda and her government. I just hope they can remain in power. Your writing is clear and full of great facts, some of which I remember from school and others that are new to me. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for reviewing! Little NZ punches above its weight so often.

It is obvious that "Kate" truly admires the women that brought the vote to New Zealand. It is easy to visualize her pasting the petition sheets together and later celebrating the victory. Rod

Wow - what a compelling significant chapter in history is brought to life here on the page. The final paragraph is a gem laying all those old fears about hot dinners and children bathed to rest ! Excellent

Thanks for your brilliant review. I do admire the tenacity of these feminists and suffragettes to gain the vote for women, against a background of misogyny.
