I was surprised when I found out how toxic a daddy long legs was. I used to play with them as a kid. It's a good thing they can't bite humans. I didn't know they pumped fluid into their legs to extend them. I learned something new.

I am very wary of those daddy long legs now. I wasn't really bothered by those, only the others large ones with the thick legs. In fact, I don't like spiders!! LOL It was fun researching them. Thank you, Cindy, I'm sorry you missed out on the payment but I'll be posting again tomorrow if you wander by. :)) Have a lovely week, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Intriguing but creepy little fellows, don't you think? :) :) A very cool addition to the book with one of those creatures that, no matter how much we learn about them, ya can't get past that initial 'creepiness' - lol!! ;) :) Sorry so far behind my friend... :( Thanx so much for the info and your pen! ;) Yvette

I think that takes care of the creepy, back to the nicer ones now. It was spiders or snakes, and even though I hate spiders, I hate snakes more! Lol. No worries about being behind, I'm just sorry the payout is finished. Thank you, my friend, for reading it, and the fun review. Sending you a hug. :)) Sandra xxx. How's the packing going? xx

Okay, we're gonna have to agree to disagree on the snakes: I LOVE snakes!! No even joking -- think they are some of the coolest animals in the forest... they're not 'cute and cuddly', but holding one and watching the 'physics' of its motion? Yeah, it appeals to the 'unique' and the 'nerd' part of me, I guess. Yeah, I know the poisonous ones by heart and give them a wide berth, but the rest...? AWESOME!! :) ;) ;)
P.S. I've got the whole house ready - David says his garage and shed will be done this week (believe it when I see it, but ya never know!)... The two boys here at home will be going back to school next weekend so, the time for getting this thing in the market is drawing very near... HOORAY!! :) :)

All right, I'll let you have your (are you nuts!!) love of snakes! lol.
Our children/grandchildren go back in September. That's the norm here. The finish around the 23rd July until the 1st of September. America has their holidays earlier than us. Let me know how you get on. :) xxx

When I was in Panama they told us that a tarantula nite won't kill you but you need to medieval someone who I'd get bit. They said usually someone will freak out and get their heart pumping and move the venom faster through the body. I learned a lot reading this one. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Earl. I can see why people would die after a bite, it was probably a heart attack after the shock. I have to admit, I'd probably die of a heart attack by just looking at the tarantula!! Thank you, my friend, have a lovely day. Sandra xxx

Spiders!!! They are fascinating and loved as well as hated by everyone. So many kinds and so different from one another. I enjoy your fun art, clever poem, terrific examples and inset video. Cool!

Hi Sandra!
In a Greek myth, Arachne, a mortal, challenges Athena to a weaving contest. Arachne makes no mistakes & wins, but Athena is so furious she transforms Arachne into a spider.
Hence arachnid.

Thanks for clearing up the tarantula's reputation. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the wolf spider.

Have you tried substituting 'above' for 'on top' to see if it makes a difference? Retains the two syllable count but is a more balanced opposite to 'underground'.
Just a suggestion.
here's weaving at you across the Atlantic,
roberta

Hello, Roberta, thank you so much for your kind review. I agree with what you said about that word in my poem, and I've changed it. I really appreciated that.
That story about Arachne would make a good ending to this one, and I'm going to add it in the book. I do like these mythical explanations on how a word came about, and this one has a real touch of fantasy that I think everyone will love. So, thank you for that, too! Have a wonderful day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Oh nooo, one of the only creatures that I don't like. I'm petrified of spiders, so forgive me for skipping some of the facts when the spider images were above them. I think you're very brave to research all these images, copy and paste them, I would be shaking!

Have you ever added pictures to your work with your eyes closed? Lol. It was either spiders or snakes, and I hate snakes more. If you want to change your mind about spiders, you should look at the video, there are some beautiful coloured spiders there, and the one that looks like it's smiling, is there too. Don't worry about skipping over this one, I don't think you are alone. This was the hardest one to do. No real cuties in the bunch. Thank you so much for trying, Chloe, my granddaughter Chloe is the same. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I can handle snakes, but whenever I see a spider lurking on the wall, I swear my heart tries to escape my body! And if they move and I cannot see them, no way am I sleeping in that room tonight, haha! I do not think I would survive in a forest, or Australia.

I have commented on several of the chapters and cannot wait to see the finished book. You are so amazing and thorough with your content, that your book is becoming a treasure every household should own. This is more than a children's book.

What a lovely review, Louise, thank you so very much! That would be lovely if it was. :)) The letter T is next. I hope you come along as it going to be a case of 3 x T two for the price of one! Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

I don't like spiders but the way you opened this chapter, makes the spider a kind of eerie creature. I enjoy every line of your poem and your text offering:"A spider's web of sticky silk
will capture bugs and flies.
They see whenever prey is near
because they have eight eyes.
A spider can adapt on land,
on top and underground;
Antarctica's the only place
a spider can't be found." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your next chapter.

This chapter, well I want to say the most interesting, but then there were a couple of others that were... aw, lets just say it was so cool. I didn't know spiders were considered animals. I was going to mention that the were insects. Goes to show, you can learn something every day. I knew that about the tarantula. When I was in the Navy, we had a port of call in Lima Peru. The street venders were all selling these huge spiders in little glass cases, they were dead and displayed, that they called tarantulas. Turns out they were actually banana spiders. Great chapter, Sandra.

I'm glad those banana spiders were dead, they are deadly!! Every time I see your picture with your lovely dog, I want to go and buy one. Yours are lovely. Right, back to your review. Thank you so much, Steve, for reading this one. Spiders are not my favourite animals, but it was them or snakes, and I wasn't going to research them. I'm glad you enjoyed reading about them. They were more interesting than I thought! Thanks again, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Uh, oh -- far more than I ever wanted to know about spiders, dear friend (LOL), but I simply could not resist a peek, and of course, once I started to read...

I wish I didn't have so many navigation problems here --I might have been able to find more time to follow a book. This one looks fabulous! (Please let me know when it is published!)

That was so spooky, Dawn, I've just been reading you on Facebook and saw you have put our pleas for prayers for Teri. It hits home when it's one of our own, doesn't it. I read her post on here, and how God has already answered her prayers, that was amazing, wasn't it!! After reading your piece, I came on here and saw you had just reviewed me, now tell me that isn't the strangest thing! Lol.
Thank you so very much, my friend, for this lovely review and for the six star award, you are so very kind! I will let you know when it's published, I have to go through it with a fine toothcomb because some copies will be going to Eric's school. Sending you a humongous hug, Please take care and stay safe. xxxx Sandra xx
