This lost 5-7-5, Mother It Is Me, has the proper formatting and shows the sadness of the long goodbye as it touches the family of an Alzheimer sufferer.

Hello, Kym,

Beautiful entry for the 5-7-5 Poetry Lost contest. Good syllable count and connection between lines. Lovely presentation too.

Hugs,

Gypsy

I love the artwork of your poem. It's so sweet. It's terrible when someone you love gets Alzheimer's. My mom had it. I am like you, I felt lost in her memories. She still remembered me, though,
Our 5-7-5 poem is sad and reflects what it's like to "lose" someone to Alzheimer's. Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Hi Mystery Poet,
Alzheimer's is a thief, a terrible disease. They say it isn't hereditary. But my grandfather, mother, aunt, uncle and younger brother all suffered through it. My brother was just 55 when he was diagnosed. He passed away on July 2nd, and his graveside service was July 7th. We laid him to rest beside Mom & Dad.
With Alzheimer's, it's like they have already died but are still here... until they don't remember how to chew and swallow anymore. It's good if they aren't violent. Some patients get so frustrated. And it's very difficult to care for someone in that state. It takes very special nurses to care for our loved ones. We've got to remember. We are not lost... they are.
Your poem tells the sad tale. And it's no fun.
Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers
Kimbob

Hello,
This is very relatable.
My Grandad didn't recognise me for a couple of years before he died, but he used to talk to me about his granddaughter (me) all the time. I was in his memories, somewhere, but he couldn't reconcile my face with the memories. Dementia is such a cruel illness.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

You will draw the reader in to identify with this experience. This poem is almost universal in its subject matter. Who of us does not know someone who has not had to deal with this loss. This is the epitomy of grief. This is a lovely tribute to those readers who have become invisible to some who at one time loved them dearly.

Your 575 is poignant, Mystery Writer. Good job with the syllable count and the image you paired your well-thought out words with, too. Your notes are informative and so true for anyone in the same situation.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes, I think it must be absolutely awful when one loses a close family member to Alzheimers. To see someone in body, but their soul has disappeared along with love, very distressing, well done, blessings Roy

It's amazing how well you expressed yourself with so little words. You have written a very meaningful poem about Alzheimer's. Yes it is a terrible thing when your love one forgets who you are making you lost to them. I like your artwork choice as well. Best wishes!

This is a sad and unfortunate reality sometimes. My mother had dementia before she passed and was in and out of reality. I like the message conveyed in this and enjoyed reading this well written work. Well done!
