This 5-7-5, Morning Masterpiece, has the right set up and finds the horizon in the morning so very full of dazzling color like the unfettered creation of an ambitious crayonist.

    Bill,

Your ambitious crayonist may be included in one of your future poems. (-; Unfettered creation is another great phrase to include. LOL

Thanks for your support, as always, for my poems' style.

Natural art, better than any painting. Your poem brought me out to the beauty of the world, helped me to leave isolation for awhile. Your poem met the criteria of the contest and its theme added sunshine to the reader's soul.

THANKS for your thoughtful response to my sunny morning wake-up.

It did earn a placing in the contest. As such, now you know who I am.

P.S. My writing genre is most typically 5-7-5. Longer verses are not in my poetry wheelhouse or are reviews of the same.

Good observation and expression, each sunrise does sketch drawings, each masterpiece is in a nuance creation; well said, well done; enjoyed the read; thank you for sharing this; keep writing. Good luck for the contest. ALCREATOR

Thanks for your careful and insightful comments on my contest entry. I had thought about adding that suggested 's' but thought that each morning created its own distinct painting.

Thanks for your good wishes in the contest voting. I hope others will agree with you.

I'm a little unsure about this poem.

It does provide some imagery (particularly of the sun), but I feel like more weight is being left on the colors used for the format of the poem than the weight of the words themselves. The image with the poem certainly helps, but it feels like without the picture, the poem would lose a lot of it's actual meaning.

It may be difficult for a reader to get all that immersed into what they are reading about the drawings, and really only clarifies that someone drew something at a given time.

I did really like the line "nuanced creations" though. It gives the strong impression of how art can sometimes have small touches that help bring it to life.

Only mildly disappointed that you thought the text color and photo overwhelmed my verse. I had thought that my imagery could stand by itself. FS encourages artwork to accompany each post, so I typically do. My intent, of course, was to say that the myriad colors displayed at dawn are akin to a box of multi-color crayons. Crayola allowed me the extra syllable in my 7-syllable line. Pleased you did like my concluding line.

Definitely saved by crayola this time. Who would have thought of putting a word like that into a poem. At least in this form you don't have to rhyme with it, 'payola' springs to mind the money paid to disc jockeys when bribing them to play your record, and 'bipolar', a PC version of manic depression spring to mind.

THANKS for your nice review and stars.

I had to use a Crayola rather than crayons for my 7th syllable. Besides, most of us drew with crayons as a child and we likely had Crayola brand crayons in school or home. Joy was when we sometimes had the giant box rather than the smaller one with 8-12 crayons (-; I also remember using numbered pencils to colorize an outlined picture drawing.

I will let you run with trying to create a poem with your Crayola rhymes. LOL

Nice use of personification and alliteration, even within your title. I love the comparison of sunrises to artwork (sketches, drawings, creations) and especially your wording of '...sketches unique Crayola drawings'. Perfect artwork selection and beautiful presentation. Well-written, beautiful work. Best wishes in the contest!

Dear mystery poet .. I gave you your third vote.

Sunrise is indeed a masterpiece .. i have had the luck to see many whilst taking my pet for his early morning walk.

I find those warm hues are like an energy booster .. they help me start my day on the right foot...They fuel me with optimism.

Sunsets often have the same colours but for me there is something melancholic in them ..instead flaming sunrises energise me.

And to think this masterpiece of overwhelming beauty is free to see everyday!

Great 575 poem that celebrates the amazing colors in a sunrise. You chose the perfect picture to illustrate this, and matched it with well chosen words. Good luck in the contest. Bill

This 5-7-5 is not only a homage to sunrise and its beautiful colors (splendid photo!) To me, sunrise is also the daily bringer of hope, the chaser of darkness and the glorious gift of God, giving us light to illuminate the beautiful world He has created for us.
Thanks for your poem.

    Marjon,

THANK YOU for that extra star. So pleased that this entry and its accompanying photo provided you such enjoyment. Had I intended to write this with a most philosophical or religious meaning, my title might have been "our Master's morning."
