A very nice little poem. Not really a haiku because of the human action in it. More a senryu. But a lovely one. The picture illustrating this poem is precious. I like the creepers and climbers, and to picture the children as flowers.

Thanks for reviewing. I was unsure about having children in it, but I noticed that another entry had a grandma in it, and another mentioned a thief, so I went ahead. The site doesn't offer a senryu contest very often; I wonder why they are fixated about 5-7-5 and haiku... I've heard of Haibun also, but never seen that as a contest. I am trying to get more familiar with the requirements of these different forms.

I love all forms of this type of art. haimu, senryu, haibun and others. True, there is not much room here for that, but you can always post them outside the contests. I do that at the moment. It is cheaper too! (when you do also a lot of critiquing!)

Thanks for telling me about another form - haimu.
I post quite a few things outside contests, but when others enter contests I can see more examples together of writers' interpretations of the forms and how they have used them.

True. But there is quite a lot of good information of what a haiku is, what it represents, how to write it...start simply googling, and look up literature. It is a fascinating world.

I have a copy of Basho's "the narrow road to the deep north" and have been appreciating things in that.

Basho is an eminence. Not easy, but extremely good.

You met the criteria, the theme was excellent, and the creative way you used your words brought a smile to my face. It is so true a child needs outside to help the growth inside. Great job.
