Hello Mary Furlong; "The Shepherds"~ won over an appreciation with enjoyment, an intelligent piece of work.
A kind and generous approach, to share such talent.
As one who sees it, for the beauty and wonderment of making my day.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. By the way, I'm a fellow artist. The accompanying picture is mine.

Tossed in your direction, I would say.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll take it as a positive comment. Why not?

I love the rhymes and the message the poem tries to communicate in just three lines. It is easy to connect the poem with wondering folds of sheep without a shepherd and visualizing the joy of beholding the one to take them home safely . Good luck in the contest!

There, in Bethlehem,
they found God's Lamb, their shepherd,
born to guide them home.
This piece is very well thought our, the syllable count is spot on. For effect you could also center it, but that in no way takes away the message

How kind of you, Barb. Thank you for this and for your previous note as well. For thoughtfulness, you deserve a 6. Or maybe a 7.

LOL just want to help.

You met the poetry challenge with 5-7-5. Nothing witty nor clever, but it is simply sweet. I'd have given it a 4 but I really love the painting (did you do it?) It is lovely.

Thanks so much. Yes, I did the painting. Watercolor painting is my favorite thing to do.

The use of white in the center of your painting draws the eye, and I interpret it as a depiction of light. If so, it's effective at helping to portray the significance of the event described in the poem. That said, it's a significance of which I'm only aware because I have some familiarity with the context. For people who don't, the poem is potentially less accessible than it otherwise could be.
