I don't know why I didn't see this earlier, Liz. I'm sure it didn't come into my mail box.

This is a very different piece of writing for you. I love it. You've painted the granddaughter very well. I can't imagine why she'd think she deserved anything special from her grandmother. It's sad to read that it's based on a true story. Well done.

I glad you saw this, Judy. Fans don't get notified of repromotions. Which sucks--furthermore, I'm not allowed to inform them. Just has to be left to chance. I'll be repromoting work until my $$$ runs out.
reply by Judy Lawless on 11-Jan-2022
Ah, so I will keep an eye out for them in the listings from now on. Thanks for letting me know.

Sadly this is an oft-told tale. You just write it a lot better than the grandkids whine about it. I'll miss your humor, although there is nothing funny about this one. Best of luck in your other writing endeavor.

I glad you saw this, Carol. My fans would read it, but they don't get notified of repromotions. Which sucks--furthermore, I'm not allowed to inform them. Just has to be left to chance.

Well, I hope Lisa does get her 'just rewards' but not the ones she's hoping for. What a nasty creature! I hope her granddaughter will (if she can find someone to marry her in the first place) do to her what she did to her grandmother! You certainly had my blood boiling, Liz! I'm so sorry for your loss. :( Warm hugs, my friend. Sandra xx

That is so ridiculous! Why are we allowed to inform our fans? This deserves to be read by all, and I can't understand Tom not allowing this! Surely it goes against what this site is all about? I'm glad I found it. xxx

It sucks! Rampant plagiarism is tolerated--you can even keep your contest entry if you "fix" the plagiarized parts.

I know, and I can understand how angry you are. I am, too. I'm sure you have more Fanstorians on your side. It's time for the rules to be changed, but that won't happen.

What a shocker! Whatever is the point of repromoting if your fans don't get notified?! Not sure what Tom's thinking on THAT rule!

Venting aside-- A spectacular rant of a script with all of your classic original phrasing and an all too familiar underbelly of just how dysfunctional some relationships are!

"Lisa" was a study on suppressed rage! Her irreverence endeated her to me, actually...

So much more refreshing than the hypocritical tongue cluckers who go on and on about the dearly departed (pain in the ...)

Did you mean to have Lisa refer to just deserts? Rather than desserts? She's so unhinged it may well be!

So glad I get another opportunity to set six stars at your feet.

Really great!

Karenina

    Thankssssss!

As to "just deserts"--one 's'--it derives from "deserves." An apt compromise would be: "her just deserts are to not get her dessert."

    great script....

Lisa is a real piece of work. It would have served her right if she'd been written out of the will altogether. Although it doesn't sound as if she inherited much. The "real" Lisa doesn't seem to be a prize either.

That's odd. It didn't show up on my queue. Are you already disassociated with FS? No, that couldn't be. You were able to re-promote this with a 50% chance at a pump. But I should still be following you, then. Oh well.

I see your connection now. Not your grandmother. May they both rest in peace. I meant no disrespect to either.

The reason is that fans don't get notified of repromotions. Which sucks--furthermore, I'm not allowed to inform them. Just has to be left to chance--or word of a mouth other than mine (not hinting--seriously--I just thought it sounded amusing). Did you get a pump?
reply by Jay Squires on 08-Jan-2022
I don't remember if I got a pump or not. I agree with you about repromotion. You don't gain anything by it unless it is a kind of advertisement for a post that is forthcoming.
reply by the author on 08-Jan-2022
You are the only one who has read it so far. Even at 90 cents, people don't read scripts, it seems.
reply by Jay Squires on 08-Jan-2022
I've given up trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Just write what seems right and do the best job of it I can.

I had to try to read more posts of others. Maybe you are one of the lucky people?
Your piece held my attention, and brought several smiles along the way!
I spotted one potential correction right at the beginning -
Jewelry box beside her.
I haven't written scripts yet, so I figured I would start with reading one of the best script writers.

Welcome to the fan club, Eagle Eyes. Thanks for the heads-up re the superfluous S. I'm pleased you were entertained; though flattered that you refer to me as one of the best script writers, I caution you to beware the arbitrary rankings wherein quantity reigns supreme. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers. LIZ

I love yopur alliterative sprinkles and turns of phrase (such as three stodgie stooges, her crone-y old cronies from Hag-Town) in this tale of family expectations and disappointments. What despicable behaviour is exhibited.

The granddaughter deserves to get her just "deserts", preferable the Gobi or Sahara far, far away, but you probably meant "just desserts".

Despicable indeed! Thanks for your endurance. Cheers. LIZ (Just deserts is derived from deserve, hence the single S, despite its pronunciation being like dessert vs desert.)

OH my goodness -- how awful (staying away from the 'unsavory' words for Lisa here... the beeeyatch)! But, you know, this would make a great 'participatory' exercise for a psych class or even an acting class to give the participants the 'wide range' of interpretation in the character exploration... really cool, Liz -- and love the way I can 'feel' you in the style of the writing, my lady... ;) :) Thanx for sharing - Great Job!!
