Hello Y. M. Roger,
Marvelous story as Flash Fiction!
Lucid and perfectly matching the theme phraseology.
Smooth, spontaneous, and captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end WITHOUT FLAW.
"EVERYONE! EAT! NO-O-OW!" And the rest up to the end - SUPERB.
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.
[ The last SIX was left rightly for you. ]

Wow, RP, what an awesome review, sir -- and thank you so very much for those shiny stars!! ;) I apologize for running a bit behind, but this converting to online teaching/etc has 'consumed' my time... please give me back my classroom - lol! :) ;) This story was one of my attempts to pass some smiles along via the pen -- we need those right now, ya know?! Thank you again and have a wonderful week ahead! ;) Yvette

Y.M.Roger, Most Welcome!
Wishing you Best of Luck,
~ RP

Your poem brought out the excitement of being together. Mom loved knowing that her family would be together even with a newcomer. I bet her eyes opened up when he said 'Furniture Outlet.'

That voice is a skill that moms like to employ as necessary, right, Rosy? ;) lol! :) So many friends around here are re-adjusting to family life that we're trying to keep laughing ... had to just pass some smiles along via the pen!! ;) You take care of you out there -- get out and enjoy some fresh air!! ;) Yvette

I really like this flash fiction. It made me smile and also has a terrific, unexpected ending. I think it should do well in the competition. Good luck and best wishes. Jen.

What a great story. Who can blame the delivery guy from joining in with the rest of the group? That "mom voice" is hard to resist so do as you are told. It sure can be a benefit to listen to it.

Thanks, Yvette. I'll take that advice about the fresh air. I am so lucky to have my horse outside the back door and a pasture to walk around.

Aaaaw, hell, can I come over? Been too damn long since I felt a saddle under my arse! ;) :) :) You both enjoy the ride for me! ;)

Will do🐎
Comment from Coco Jane
Funny! I like the ending, though maybe the last sentence could be omitted rather than telling the reader straight out. Then you would have more words available, maybe to name the food being served.
Is there a dad here? Maybe there is not room for him at the table because the delivery man is there? Just a thought.

Oh, this is great fun! I enjoyed reading every word and especially loved the surprise ending. I am reading this while it is quiet in the building so, when I got to the end, I just grinned widely. Wonderful humor for these too often serious times. This is very well written and it kept me enthralled. I love the title and the line above it. "That 'Mom Voice'" is so clever and so true, as well. Thanks for lightening up my morning and giving me a fresh start to a new day.
Take care,
Jesse

Oh, I'm so glad you found a smile here, Jesse - and thank you for those wonderful stars, sir!! ;) I'm trying to 'infuse' some laughter amidst the heaviness'... :) :) Take care and hope all's going well with the 'move preparations' and such!! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette.
You're very welcome. I'm glad you are infusing humor into all the heaviness of these times.
I actually haven't found my new home yet. But just knowing that I've got the move to look forward to is a real boost to my morale.
Take care and stay safe.
Jesse

This is funny. I enjoyed your flash fiction. The part of it that seemed more like fiction to me is that Mom was so happy with all this chaos. It sounds like a disaster to me.

Oh, this is cute. I can identify with this as I go to visit my daughter's home where there are always multiple teenage boys--they all call her mom. Very enjoyable. Good luck in the contest. Marilyn

My mom was soft spoken and didn't really have a mom voice, but I DO know what you're talking about. Fresh air--yes. My dog and I have gone for a walk around the lake. People are walking their dogs but keeping a good distance. Marlyn
