This is an unusual theme and yet one that we all have had to deal with.
Before seeking forgiveness one must forgive one's self...even the bible says so.
We are all human and we all make mistakes.
We need to face our errors and learn from them ...this will teach us to know ourselves better and it will make us stronger to face life's trials...
...once we have accomplished all these stages we can forgive ourselves ..we are ready to take the knife out of our heart.
At this point we are now worthy to seek and receive the forgiveness from those we have harmed, hurt or offended.

This is so true. . .and once we forgive ourselves, the knife no longer has any hurt or pain. It is interesting how that all works, because not only can we forgive them so we can stop the pain but we can now love them again.

Your poem never spoke a truer word. If you carry anger and resentment in your heart, you don't damage the one you hate but you do damage yourself. The image of pulling the knife out of your own heart is great. The picture is effective and unusual. Good luck in the competition.

Yes seems like you aced it here with your Forgiveness poem - often we think of Forgiveness as being all about the 'other' when really we are part of the equation- a very important part - voting for this one - hope it gets to the winner's enclosure

So true. The act of forgiveness is a sacrament. It heals. It brings peace. It opens the door to love. But since we're human and our ego is strong, it can be difficult to forgive. We need God's help.
I like the succinct power and graphic imagery of this write.
Best wishes for the contest.
