Oh my goodness, I need all those black bags, and I need to get off my butt and sort it all out. Whenever I think about it, I remember something else that needed doing, like a bit of writing that couldn't be put off. My loft is bowing, so its got to be done soon! lol. Your piece had me laughing, especially where you say in your author's notes that even after five years, it's still the same!! LOL! Loved this. Well done, Liz. :)) Sandra xx

I had a blast with this one! Esp. the fantasy of tossing the lot accidentally-on-purpose. Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure!

This piece was very fun to read. It also was a smooth sailing type of work. I dread having to read something over and over to get the point.
I admire the humor, simple but funny

Yes, I have to agree with many of the advisements on your list. Over time even the best of find that we've accumulated things we don't really need, but our minds tell us have some for of value. This is a great post for the spring cleaners.

I enjoy everything you write but, I don't understand why so many of your posts don't show up on my inbox to read. I mean, I thought I was to be notified whenever you post anything? Oh, well, glad I stumbled across this. Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a six.
Well, I did read it again, but they won't let me change anything but the words, so I'll just add more. :-)

Your advice near the beginning is actually very helpful and funny. You had a lot of great lines. This was my favorite: This also has a cute mnemonic, RDCT, which stands for Re-arranging Deck Chairs on the Titanic (credit to source unknown). It was my favorite because that's a thing that I do a lot so that made me chuckle. I recognized myself throughout this humorous piece. Great job.

I love the satirical flavor of your writing. I have been guilty of being a hoarder but my hoarding is books. I have more books than bookcases. It drives my wife nuts, "When are you going to clean off your night stand? There must be fifty books there." Hefty, hefty, hefty!

Elizabeth:
I did not know you had been in my house and examined the depth
of the clutter in my house. It seems like I take two steps forward and
three steps back - it is driving me nuts - and I don't have a basement!

This is a fun and very helpful write! I love the built in sarcasm which speaks to the truth in all of this as we who collect often struggle to de-clutter! Fun write.

I love this, and as a fan of the book, "tidying with joy: the Japanese art of organizing and decluttering," (I think I got the title right) i got several good laughs! Your humorous way of getting the job done would sure be a lot faster, but then I would not have all my stuff that brings me joy. :-) and what if we needed an empty coffee can? It would be too late, and we would have to drink an entire can of coffee instead of just going to the shed and getting one out. well written and funny. Have a great day and hugs.

We just went through this with my only surviving son's visit. I was displaying his two dead brother's mementos all over the house. Our guest bedroom was like a museum to the dead. It was so healing for the three of us to agree that life must go on. We can take pictures for our own therapy and nog burden guests with souvenirs of the past. This was very affirming to me snd where I am in getting rid of the clutter both in my house and in my mind.
