That was a lovely poem, Kay, your friend sounded like a lovely man, and talented too. Resourceful, in that he used the charcoal from the fire, I wouldn't have thought of that, but that's what artists use! I enjoyed reading this, my friend, I can't write Free Verse, it comes out like a prose story when I've tried, so well done for doing such a great job with this lover tribute to your friend. Good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xx

Hello, Aussie,
Nice entry for the Free Verse Poetry Contest. I had a friend on this site named Fez. He was from Australia too and wrote about aborigines too. I like that he wrote with charcoal and now he is a famous artist. Well done my friend.

Yes, aboriginal art brings in thousands of dollars. At one time, the artists were not being paid at the rate they should have. Now, they are protected and get the right amount. Thank you my friend. Love, Kxx

I like how you bring in your story and poems a piece of that amazing and so far away land -
He was droving cattle
Down the mighty Murray
His horse bolted
Ringer lost his balance
Aboriginal stockmen amazing
This time Ringer gave his leg
Caught in the stirrup
He rode no more -
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
