I loved your poem but also your notes. They are spot on. I miss the time when men were cavalier. My husband, son-in-law and grandsons still fill that role but they are definitely in the minority.

Hello anon, I knew immediately this poem had to be biographical and your notes confirmed it. A well told story with a happy ending - what everyone likes to read. I enjoyed the read. Good rhyme, though one or two lines have disturbed the flow a bit, but the story is so good I ignore. Great picture - lovely Valentine story - Good Luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Ah, yes, the days of wine and roses, ladies and gentlemen. I think today, down deep inside, women still love to be romanced and men still love to romance them. Paying by credit card to fill out forms on a dating website somehow just doesn't seem to cut it for me. So happy to read your Valentine story.

A romantic write about the Valentine you hope would be yours. The laws have changes to protect women from male predators. I suffered at the hands of men with wondering hands in the seventies and I am glad that my daughters don't have to go through that, you may be a gentleman, but many others are not. A poignant write, love Dolly x

Dolly, as a man, it pains me deeply about your situation. I regret that my wife, like you, had occasions where men presented themselves as cuckolds with little regard for the sexual and professional boundaries.

Great poem!! Back then we knew how the game worked lol and inviting her for lunch was just the right move. Today, instead of dinner the guy suggests they step outside and share a joint while they talk over the meeting!

I partially agree with you. If only all men were decent to women there wouldn't be a need to protect them at work. But they are not all respectful and we have no choice but to ban workplace romances. Good luck with your Valentine.
