Its Good ...
it reads well with a little mastery of the line and delivers a solid message with a great sense of loss of youth and regret with a gathering of older wisdom of a life torn it hints at the stuffing knocked out of you since now you are the great sage ...

Stuffing was kicked out several ways, like others, but the updated view is more able. Thanks
Hugs, Trisha,

I think you could have written this for me, but even now I'm still a fool in some areas. But I do know a lot more than I did when I was young. A little less foolish perhaps. I really liked this post, it suits down to the ground. Beautifully written free verse, so wise in many ways. Well done, blessings, Roy

I remember reading Dante's Purgatory and a particular point when the sinner converts only on his death bed he has to wait at the foot of the mountain to even get into Purgatory because he made God wait so now he must wait. Your poem reminds me of a life a little bit like that. And it makes you think. - Brenda

Congratulations on this meaningful piece. Sounds like you are too hard on yourself. Some people are lucky and are instilled with a high self-esteem by loving parents and some are not so lucky. Sounds like life has thrown a lot of mayhem your way and you've endured and made the best of it like a champ. Good luck with the competition!

I think we all find more sense as we age, trouble is we could do with some of it at an earlier age. An unusual rhyming poem Trisha, with your non rhyming lines in between the couplets. You're right, life is too short not to love yourself, so that others can too. Nice one,
cheers,
valda

What a very different rhyming piece but with the addition of the non rhyming words and lines, it added punctuation to what you are trying to say. Nicely done
