This is getting more exciting with each chapter. We move hotels tomorrow and I'm not sure about internet access but I'll catch up at some stage.

Only two spags and one suggestion:

Besides, the border police might draw the wrong conclusions about a foreigner carrying that kind of money. - quote marks missing after 'money'

you are to not to bring it back without blood on its blade - this sounds quite fine to me, given the speaker, but is it what you meant? - 'you are to not to'

"Surely this map hasn't been spread out since yesterday afternoon," I said. "Isn't it in your way? - quote marks missing after 'way'

Have a great day
Judy

Ready for action and equipped to face the thief. Will you dare to use the family magic dagger and draw blood? Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

That was superb, Tony, a really riveting chapter. I hope Ash gets his just deserts, what a nasty man. At least he'll wake up with more than a throbbing leg, he'll have a throbbing head as well. Anyway, we know for a fact that Kayla has the money and has gone of to rescue her sister. She obviously knew about the handle being a detonator. Now we have Charles dressed up as a local with the charmed knife. Trust him to be a fool and pretend to use it against the people who own it. There was a lot of excellent things going on in this chapter, my friend, very well done! :)) Sandra xxx

I liked this chapter. Plenty of lively dialogue, some action, and intrigue. It started off with a bang as Ash tries to sabotage the mission and turn in Charles to the local police, but he is foiled by Chabrasi, quite unexpectedly; I think you did a great job with the suspense and sprung that out well as he jumps from behind the door with the sack full of sand and lays him out. Then we have them going after Kayla with the gun and dagger to try and rescue Helen before the French blow them all up inadvertently. Your setting up for some great action chapters to come. estory

Thanks very much for your review, estory, and the sixth star. I appreciate your positive comments. I'm finding this a bit like a theatre production - having to get characters on and off stage at the right time! Best wishes, Tony.

So Charles is off on the hunt armed with a gun, a magical knife and an exploding briefcase. I'm relieved that Minaxi is with him . You keep the excitement going in this action packed chapter. Well done.

Blessings Julia

Another good chapter in your series! You managed to represent the Kailashi culture pretty well here. And man your mention of Bumburet took me back 5 years! It was a nice little place :-)

By the end of this chapter there seems to hope for all concerned. The brief case has not exploded, though of course it still could. I hope that is remembered when the European clothing is eventually retrieved!

The belief that once drawn the knife should not be sheathed until it has drawn blood is one common from the Near East, onwards. I recall it being understood in Aden of the curved dagger or jambia (hard 'J' like 'G' in Google).

The excitement moves towards what might be its climax.

Thanks, Jim. Fortunately, he didn't have time to put his clothes in the case before it was stitched up. I've now removed that bit of dialogue, as it didn't really go anywhere.
They have some particularly vicious daggers in the exotic east. The Malayan kris is another that comes to mind.

Ash gets what he actually deserves after robbing Ash of his ransom money to be paid for the release of Helen, but with a trick homing device that if opened will provide a homing device to destroy the place where its opened, Chaprasi cleverly knocks out an armed Ash. Then Mozama arms Charles with a ancestral "magic" knife, after Kayla has taken off to rescue her sister, well done Tony, an excellent episode, blessings Roy
