I just finished reading through your chapters, and wished I had the actual book in my hands - because I'm sure this will be in print some day. You have real talent, I enjoyed the world you created very much. For some reason your chapter 33 doesn't show up as part of the book, can you add it?

    Hi Carol,
Thank you for the six stars and the wonderful comments.
Wow, that is about the nicest thing anyone can say. I so appreciate you doing back and reading the book from the first. I am honored you would take the time. I do hope to have this in print form someday.
I will get this chapter added to the book. I have trouble getting a post to go to the correct book when I first post it, so I usually move it to the book a few days later.

That's such a wonderful description, I love it. I guess for Master Crescendo the music speaks a lot about the person playing it the same ways stories tell me a lot about people who wrote them. I agree that passion and talent together can be powerful, they can create magic.

Ha, ha. I like how you have ended the chapter, "something even better... bees." This chapter is nicely written, clear and interesting. Dialogue flows well. We see that Piper is proficient in many instruments and is a composer. Master thinks he probably has an excellent singing voice, too. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn,
Well, Master Crescendo does like his bees so he keeps a close eye on them.
Thanks for a great review, and your interesting and supportive comments.

-This is a great chapter, Debi.
-I think it is one of my favorites!
-I really like Master Crescendo; he is so kind
and patient, and so interested in music and in
Piper as a person, as well as his talent.
-You use some really descriptive imagery in this,
especially in the opening paragraphs.
-There is so much nature in the chapter
that you make us want to be there, too.
-I think M.C. is what Piper's grandfather was,
and could have been, had he lived long enough
to see Piper grow and learn more.
-I can't say enough good things about him,
and I love the idea of his willingness to help Piper
learn as much as possible, and
even learn writing music, as well.
-I wonder if you had musical training,
and some of that is showing through
the story; either that, or someone close to you.
-I also like the short remarks Piper has been
making about Redd-Leif that shows
some kind of doubt in his mind, the opposite
of what M.C. seems to be: "I wondered what
he meant, but the topic never came up again."
-I was waiting for birds to be the answer at the end,
but bees is good, too, and relates very well to
the ending of the previous chapter.

    Hi Pam,
This is such a fantastic review. It really made me feel good. Thank you for the comments about the descriptions. I am glad you like M.C. I think he may be taking more of the novel than I originally planned because I am finding I like him, too.
As far as my music training--I play piano and organ, and do a little arranging for my church and my sister who sings. At twenty-nine, I decided I wanted to play the 'cello. I've never played it in public; it's my just feel good to play instrument. As a kid I wanted to play the flute, but my dad had a clarinet so I played it throughout my school years. I still hope to learn the flute. I tried playing the recorder, but my dog sings along and I laugh so hard I can't play.
Sorry about the delay in responding. It was my folks 64th wedding anniversary yesterday and so we had a celebration. I am hoping they make it to 65 and we can do a big party next year.

You are very welcome and deserving of the review, Debi, and I am thrilled it made you feel good. You are on a roll with M.C. so my vote is to keep him!!

Thanks for sharing about your music background. It is pretty impressive. I started playing the clarinet in 4th grade and went through high school. I was pretty decent at it, but worked hard, too. Congratulations to your parents on so many years together.

Hello Debi,
Beautiful description in this chapter. The blending of music and magic
with elementals and nature is very satisfying. If Piper can sing, too,
than he is blessed beyond imagination. Composer, instrumentalist
and singer, I can't think of a single person to compare to Piper.
Maybe he can even increase the production of honey.
Excellent ending to pique the readers interest.
I'd like to hear Piper in person :)
Robert

    Hi Robert,
Thank you for the wonderful review.
I have a suspicion that even if Piper can sing, he does it rarely. He'd rather play his flute.
    Let's see about the honey.
I would like to hear Piper play too.
Do you think John Williams could come up with a proper tune? His are always so memorable.
I appreciate the six star rating! Thank you!

Okay, I actually giggled out loud when MC referred to Piper as 'my young apprentice'... got flashbacks of Empire Strikes Back - LOL!! ;) :) Another step in this wonderful musical journey, W.J. -- I just love that he was 'hopping and dancing' as he played, pulls the joy of the music into your story even more than the bees pausing... LOL! ;) ;) I find myself excited to see how things go with their time together -- thank you so much for sharing!! ;) :) Yvette :)

    Hi Yvette,
I laughed when I read your review. Hmm. I hadn't considered the Star Wars reference about "my young apprentice." I took out the phrase. If you think that, I bet others do as well. LOL.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review.

Piper is a very talented fellow it seems. Now he will really get the opportunity to learn with the Master Crescendo to teach him. He is a new comer to the Fair Folk
and will be well accepted with his credentials. LOL
Well done, Debi. Nancy:)

"When Master Crescendo came over the rise, Piper was prancing about, obviously enjoying himself." - I love this sentence. I can visualize this lad lost in the music, thinking he's alone and just cutting loose. LOL Not sure you need "obviously" in the sentence.

You have used this encounter to tell Master Crescendo and readers a great deal about Piper's musical ability. Loved the subtle comparison to the classical myth of Orpheus as you describe the enchantment cast by Piper's music.

A well written and delightful chapter, Debi.

Blessings Julia

    Hi Julia,
Thank you for the wonderful review. I took your advice and removed the word 'obviously'. The sentence reads just fine without it. Thank you for bringing in the Orpheus myth. It's one of my favorites.

I like the style and the simplicity and the clarity.

So as piper plays, Master Crescendo hears Piper play, and is convinced that he connects to nature, and moves that accordingly, he's convinced that this is tthe case, he tells Piper to go with him, to meet of all things...bees. You've got me intrigued Debi, but I think you're on to something my friend, an excellent episode My friend, blessings, Roy
