Marinate is a perfect word here. Sometimes people only 'grok' the lesson in retrospect. Life's greatest challenges often prove its greatest gifts too. Hmmmn---that line might make a good three liner....

I think this is a good entry for the "Senryu" writing prompt.
Your verse tells of a writer's inspiration marinating within the soul.
