Great chapter Tony, full of drama. I loved the comparison of the old ways when the women danced and laughed in festivities with Kayla dancing through the leaves, against the sombre Sharia laws forced onto them. well told,
cheers,

Thanks very much for your comments and for the extra star. Much appreciated!
It?s sad to see these older cultures being extinguished. There is much celebration of life in this one and a recognition of the equality of the sexes - unusual in that part of the world.

-A good chapter, Tony, that continues
with the visit to Kayla and Helen's aunt.
-There is enough levity to keep things from
being too serious, like the incident with Ash
and the comment about the aunt's dog being dangerous.
-You fill us in very well with details from Charles's
questions to Kayla. I guess he finally decided to be
a little more direct and find out what she knows.
-Her answers are quite interesting, and she has
very definite feelings about avenging her parent's
deaths, and vows to support Helen.
-I like the aunt's comment she had made to Kayla:
"The ground squirrel does not defeat the viper."
-I also like Charles's direct question at the end.

Thanks, Pam. I had to get Ash out of the way for a while so that Charles could have a private conversation with Kayla! LOL

Hi Tony, this is another fine chapter in your wonderful tale of intrigue and betrayal. Where it will all lead is yet far from clear, and to be honest, I don't know who to trust and who I can't. Not anymore. I'm in for the ride. It's very well written, as always. Ulla:))

Moment of mischievous and laughter - "Foaming at the mouth, too. Get them to jab a rabies shot into your butt while they're at it." Mozama's dog wagged his tail as if he liked that idea."
This chapter is very serious, lots of vengeance and death threats flying around. I hope Helen is still alive. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

Tony ~ as always your writing is excellent. This chapter is so well described throughout, including dialogue. It flows easily from speaker to speaker while advancing your story. Sorry not to have a sixer for you. Marilyn

I thought Kayla must have reasons of her own for being there. I hope they can find Helen. Governments are not likely to pay ransoms. I guess I can see why. Did Bisto sic the dog on Ash? He seemed friendly enough to everyone else.

Thanks, Cindy. I appreciate your comments and continued support. I think the dog bit Ash because he kicked it. All good wishes, Tony

I feel the dog was correct in biting somebody who kicked it. I happen to be a dog lover, but I'm sure you already knew that. Once again, I enjoyed reading your post. This story is excellent.

I'm really clutching at straws this time!! I made a second reading and all I could come up with was a suggestion for the following:

It was steep and craggy and wound through granite outcrops garlanded with fallen leaves of yellow and gold. - maybe a comma after 'craggy'

or

It was steep and craggy, winding through granite outcrops garlanded with fallen leaves of yellow and gold.

And off-track: I was intrigued with your explanation of the change from dollars to euros. Is the information on Google or did you have two million euros to experiment with? lol

Congratulations on your placing in 'Book of the Month' too.

Cheers
Judy

Thanks, Judy. I did a bit of research on Google. Using the largest denomination US note, you can only fit one million in a briefcase. That?s why the euro is apparently the drug runner?s currency of choice. Europe has now withdrawn the 500-euro note because of it, but they still have a 200-euro note. Two million euros would weigh 4.4 Kg - a bit too heavy for hand luggage! I doubt I?ll ever be faced with the problem!
