This story is very intriguing. The characters are rich and interesting, and the plot moves along nicely. I'm excited to see what is going to happen next, as everything right now is very mysterious and unclear. This is a great read!

Hello Tony,
If I'd gone through what Charles did, I'd have nightmares too.
It seems like everyone has connections in this part of the world,
and the chief justice might be a very good person to know.
Of course, I wouldn't trust any of them. All depends on which way
the wind blows or the cash flows.
These days, if I curled up in a "boot" I'd likely never uncurl.
Excellent chapter.
Robert

I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't even be able to climb into the boot, let alone curl up in it! Fortunately, as you will see from the next chapter, I let him off the hook - at least in that regard!

-This is a good chapter,
Tony, that follows from the
previous one, and outlines
a few details to take care of.
-It seems Charles's nightmare
caused quite a stir with various
ones stopping in to check on him.
-I like the description of the
dressing gown, and see where the
title came from!
-Bisto is very relaxed, having his
breakfast with Kayla, and the
banter lightens up the morning.
-Discussion of their proposed
journey ensues, and Charles
comments on Kayla and Bisto
being like a married couple.
-It will be interesting to see
if there is anything to that!
-Interesting that Abdul was the
Chief Justice, and just the person
to contact for Bisto.
-A little mystery and speculation
about Genevieve nicely ends the chapter.

"slightly blotto" - hmmm, I don't think one can be slightly extremely drunk... maybe change blotto

"our capture by the frontier police" - a little confusing because Kayla is mentioned but Charles is referring to himself and Helen

"get my passport and visa renewed" - " get a new passport and visa"

"He put a protective arm around Genevieve's shoulder" - "He put a possessive arm around Genevieve"

"Friend of the Deputy High Commissioner Bamforth" - "Friend of the Deputy High Commissioner" or "Friend of Deputy High Commissioner Bamforth"

A few niggles for you to consider.

Overall I enjoyed the easy flow of this chapter. You segued smoothly from Charles's nightmare to the decision making breakfast conversation.

Kayla is just as reckless as Helen. Here's hoping that fortune favours the brave.

Blessings Julia

Thanks, Julia. Some useful suggestions here, most of which I have implemented. Am still thinking about the oxymoron, 'slightly blotto'. I see what you're getting at, though.

This is another interesting chapter in your book. I'm glad to see that Brandon escaped from the police station With the help from the Peacock. Good luck with the next leg in their journey, to find Helen. Merry Christmas!

Glad you identified the Peacock within this post or else I'd be left hanging and worrying for Charles. It doesn't sound like a safe plan to have him ride in the boot. Someone is still likely to inspect it!
I like how you have Kayla's personal experience inform here assessment of "wives."

I love Kayla's - bring a banana and lets go -to finish off another good chapter Tony. I can see more trouble coming for Charles he seems to stagger into it. These three are blending well together, good writing Tony.
cheers,
valda

I'm afraid Charles might get into a lot of trouble, again, if he doesn't have the proper paperwork. I can't wait to read what's going to happen next. You have a great novel on your hands.

I'm not surprised he's having nightmares. He'll have another one riding in the boot of that car, but I suppose the main character would be pretty dull if he did the sensible thing. He could end up back in jail if he gets caught, and I don't imagine knowing that will make for a pleasant ride.

Once again I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter. I enjoy seeing how you are interweaving the characters. If I were Charles I would be staying at the hotel for sure!!

Thanks, Pam. Delighted that you're still enjoying this. He's a braver man than me! Or, perhaps, more foolish! LOL
