I admired your wordplay with "mourning" and "morning" in this 5-7-5 haiku. The dazzling picture you selected certainly projects "hope". Best wishes in the contest- Joan

I like this June and think it is a splendid entry for this contest. I especially like your play on words with mourning and morning.. it is that cleverness that gives the satori line its special meaning. Well done.

Comment from Gloria ....
This is beautiful, June. Love the watercolour which ties in very nicely with the theme of rain clouds and tears.
Nice rhyming of mourning and morning too.
Great luck to you with the Contest Committee. :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. I was informed purists do not feel a haiku should rhyme. So, I have revised it. Didn't want to be dq'ed!

This is a lovely haiku, my only concern is that haiku don't rhyme and your first and third lines do. You have said a great deal in so very few syllables. Best wishes in rhe contest, my friend~Debbie

Is this your artwork June? It compliments your haiku perfectly. At present I am mourning the loss of my partner (recently deceased) and yes, the dark clouds still hang around; hope comes from faith. Bless you, Kace.

So sorry for the loss of your partner. Mourning is a process that can take awhile to get through. Just go with the flow. Your heart, mind and soul will heal over time. Your anchor is your faith.

I would be lost without my faith June.
Right on Christmas as well. Still here, still writing! Happy Christmas my friend. Love, K.

This is a very nice haiku and with a gorgeous image. It does take a long time to get over the mourning and be able to express joy. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

Hope springs eternal - and I do love the sunshine after the rain.

This great haiku reminded me of that wonderful scripture, Psalam 30:5, "Weeping May endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning". Like you, I believe native is a great metaphorical message of hope. Well done, blessings, Roy
