Wow. I am fairly new to this site, so this is the first chapter I have tuned in on, and it grabbed me from the get-go. Your style is clear and concise, with some lines very obviously important in this story. I need to go back and read the rest! Great characters, great conversation.

that focuses on Charles and Bisto.
-Bisto was enjoying his appertifs
and the evening, and Charles was
so tired and not necessarily feeling
great, yet, but he listened.
-I like the reference to Biggles, too.
-Very good dialogue and imagery
as Bisto fills Charles in on just
about everything- even Kayla,
Helen, and Alain!
-You do a good job of foreshadowing
with the 'snag' regarding Charles's visa.
-That could present some real problems.
-You also do a very good job with
the closing paragraphs as Charles tries
to get some sleep, but is still adjusting
to the difficulties he has faced.
-Hopefully, some good news will
come his way, soon, and we'll learn
more about Helen, and hope
she is safe.

Thanks, Pam. As always, I appreciate your comments and support. I should be able to make a bit of progress over the next four days, all of which are forecast 40C or more. No option but to stay inside and take it easy! We're expecting 44C on Friday (about 110F). Hopefully no bushfires.

I enjoyed you character attributes that you have shown in the dialogue.
Since, I am very new to your story, a few lines found me lost, but THAT IS ON ME.
I loved the 'pink poodle' in your description of pet ownership. What a great mind-picture.

A complicated relationship, but we see how the tentacles of money and drugs wrap around the plans to eliminate the Lion. I liked the end of this chapter; the blood colored mountain side seems to foreshadow coming action and tension, trouble and danger. Good suspense carries us into the next chapter...estory

Thanks, Valda. Bisto's a bit of an unknown quantity at this stage. Perhaps not quite the old buffer he sometimes seems to be. I hope you're surviving the heat and the bushfires. We've four days over 40C coming up, so I won't be doing much except hibernating.

Love this comment too filly from another stable, I've never heard someone described quite that way, but it's fitting. Poor guy having nightmares, it's no wonder after everything he's been through. I do hope they find Helen end his nightmares soon.
