I am not sure which I loved more-- your notes or the poem itself. Okay, I am exaggerating -- your free verse echoes with melancholy, but hope, too. But your notes appeal to the high road that is in all of us and says what can't be said often enough. Homelessness is one of my biggest peeves -- I live in a country where people can (and do!) freeze to death in winter.

Great work on this poem; I love the imagery and passion in your words. You tell an entire story in just a few short lines. The poem seems to move from darkness to light as it progresses. I really enjoyed reading this, looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I think you walked the line with of Yeats and Wordsworth perfectly in the thoughtful and thought provoking piece. A short succinct and poignant poem.

Well done.

This is interesting, I think the long lines evoke something of the romantic feel of Wordsworth and early Yeats. But I don't know that they contain the rhythmic mastery and music of those titanic poets. I liked the images. Very abstract, almost surreal. You have that dream like view of the street scene, the interwoven crowds, some compassionate, some lost. estory

To be sure, I am less than the dust beneath the soles of their worn out shoes.

I can only strive to evoke an echo of their great works. I tried to be careful to try not to plagiarize their prose whilst still giving it a reverent nod.

This is a poignant poem forcing many of us to pay a little attention to the homeless and unfortunate. Yes you have personified human kindness and it is a nice metaphorical way of saying that they need our kind attention

Yes, they know no prejudice. (And, regardless of class or poverty, all souls love flowers.)

Good luck in the free verse contest, Lordinajamjar.

This is a sad poem about those homeless and needy people that some just like to ignore. Why is this person just watching someone help them instead of helping him/herself? It would probably make her much happier.
Perfect subject for the time of year.
Happy Holidays

There seems to be more and more of those precious lives stolen these days friend. The homeless numbers around the globe are soaring and a strong dose of human kindness is definitely what is needed : ))

Hello Lordinajamjar LOL - this is a well written, unusual free verse. A bold piece of writing and especially brave to move in the circles of Wordsworth and Keats. A good read and I enjoyed it. Well done and warm regards Dorothy
