I think it's our expectations that bring on the blues. We tend to think everyone is happy except us. Not true. Many people go through this. As we age, too, it's not so bad to get rid of things that drag us down. Regarding your poem--it's well written and rhymed. It's good to express our feelings, which you have done here. Feel better. Yes, many people have a hard time at Christmas and now I understand it. I am some better and hope to improve each day. Thanks so much for the review.

Many of us can relate...it's hard for me this year too. But I'm enjoying music and cards, even have a twinkle light jar to feel a bit festive!
Your poem is honest, well written (the ab,ab form is not only easy to follow as such, but is not 'forced' in any way), full of human emotion, and ends with hope for the future. It's nicely written and I gave you six stars especially because it might not have been easy to write.

Thank you so much for 6 glittering stars. =} I do have a difficult time at Christmas. It is no fun at all. I will spend the week of Christmas with a favorite niece and her husband. That should be lots of fun. They like having a goofy old lady around. =] I have been enjoying making Christmas cards. It's too late to sell them in my on-line shop but I will have them done for next year. =] I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you so much again. Rox

Rox, I understand the winter blues at this time of year. The shorter sunshine days along with the holiday rushing and expectations of us can be a cause. I pray that your Christmas decorations will ring a smile to your face and give you peace of mind and heart.

I think some studies reveal that MANY people, even those who LOVE the Christmas season, feel some stabs of sadness during this time. Seems oddly contradictory, doesn't it? I can relate to your poem! It is vividly descriptive of your feelings.

Roxie, I totally understand where you are coming from. I've been feeling a little sad at Christmas the past few years. Maybe it's the carols taking me back to the childhood memories that I can never get back as I think a lot about my grandparents during this time of year. When I was a child, my mother did the best she could to take care of us with an absent father, and my paternal grandparents kind of stepped up to the plate best they could in his absence. I always see life then as black and white until Christmas which was the most colorful part of my life at my grandparents. It's an underlying thing as I am happy to share the holiday with my family, but the decorating and such is not a biggy on my list either these days! I'll be with you this season in spirit so you know you have a friend who understands! :) xoxo

Maybe it's the carols taking me back to the childhood memories that I can never get back as I think a lot about my grandparents during this time of year. When I was a child, my mother did the best she could to take care of us with an absent father, and my paternal grandparents kind of stepped up to the plate best they could in his absence. It is the Spirit of the season that is important and I do enjoy the Christmas Story. It is amazing. I know I'm not alone in the way I feel, and it is no fun at all. I?m glad to know you have your card shop then. Make them as beautiful as possible! Lots of sparkle is always uplifting! I will be with my family so Christmas itself will be good. It?s just leading up to it that I get a little nostalgic:). Do you have family to spend Christmas with?

Rox, I'm so sorry you feel this way. Sadly, it's a common thing, mainly because the holidays remind people of loved ones lost, and of circumstances no longer experienced. Many people find the holidays the loneliest time of the year. You did a very nice job of expressing your feelings through your poem. It's very honest and very moving, and your rhymes work well.
