HAHAHAHAHA. This sounds like what David Sedaris does...he follows people and listens to their conversations then writes about them. "Mrs. Haversham" pretends she one type, then, when she's done, she returns to her car, whips out her notebooks and pens and starts recounting the episode. Wicked. Wicked and delightful! A writer's got to do whatever is necessary. What real writer doesn't know THAT!!

All writers are a tad wicked. Even those romance writers. Don't let them fool you. Haha. Thanks for these reviews. They are a great help.

I think many readers can relate to getting nervous then talking too much.

I picked up a couple of small points:
incase she ever needed to jimmie a lock - two words - in case

"Mrs. Havesham, I presume, " a tall, handsome middle aged man, motioned her inside. - comma after 'handsome'. There is an extra space between the comma and speech marks after 'presume'

"Its been thirty years - apostrophe needed - it's

I hope I can work the til. - spelling - the till.

I enjoyed reading this.
Best wishes
Judy

Finding a job after thirty years is going to be difficult. She is lucky to find someone who will give her a chance. A hardware store does wouldn't like fun. It is bound to be a fun adventure.
Youshow the emotions well and make your character believable.

Welcome back to the world of the writing, my friend.
I can't see that you've acquire any rust during your absence.
Mrs Haversham is an interesting creation. The contents of her
purse reflect the lady herself.

Welcome back.

Peace, Lee

Cute story. I enjoyed the description of Mrs. Havesham. She is a rare lady of yesteryear, that we seldom see in today's world. That's a sad thing. Thank you for sharing this post.

Hey G. And a big hardy welcome back to you. I love your tote full of goodies. The box of raisins and triple A batteries are of course an absolute necessity.

And I also enjoyed the allusion to Great Expectations. Even though in that wonderful novel she was a Miss and slightly different name spelling, your write still made me think of that, and it was a pleasant thought.

Ha, I wouldn't think working in a hardware store would be easy, but then I guess you never know.

Yep she is back among the living and with many fascinating tales to spin.

A most enjoyable read. :)

Welcome back. The story shows an aging woman getting back into the world through work. I do wonder why she wanted to leave just as he had hired her. More likely she would stay and learn the layout at least. And he would have told her when to report for work, definitely. The story needs at least that much.

This was good. Glad you said 2 years, I did wonder, as I had not seen you in ages.Officially I should have gone back to Basic today as I am moving out, unless some kind soul has paid for more Premier time for me. Good seeing an old face. You know Dean Kuch and Michael Cahill have died, I presume. Charley Lewis has died or is very ill and not around either. Welcome back. Good story.
