Oh my - I can just see the Bumpass'es dogs stealing the Christmas turkey from the movie The Christmas story - this is a marvelous picture. and wouldnt' any dog love to do this.

Seriously - your dog did this - I have seen a very tall Great Dane take away dinner - and she prob. ate the bones. they do in the wild.
