Oh, that would be really something to have French fry stolen by a Canadian goose! They are really big birds. We see them everywhere here. Fun poem and I liked the description of "stealthy long necked birds" and all the "s" alliteration!

It is the word placement that draws the reader in. Some will have to google Canadian Goose to understand. Some of us will know exactly what that would look like. This is a fun poem to play around with in the imagination.

Hi Alie. They are beautiful birds. All animals are built for survival, clever to figure out ways to get what they want. Great job with your 5-7-5 and I wish you the best in the contest. Marilyn

You picked my favorite bird to write about. I love the sound and the flight of Canadian geese. So, I was prejudiced before I even read your words.
I like your sense of humor. I've never thought of the beautiful bird as stealthy long necks. That's funny to me. I suppose it's not too funny if you are a fry (which I had to look up by the way).
Good luck in the competition. Thank you for calling my favorite bird to mind this morning.

This appears to be a well penned 5-7-5 contest entry with an appropriate
photo-art selection. I appreciate Canadian geese but I liked them more
when they used to migrate back to Canada.
Best wishes!

Cute picture and cute poem and the picture you choose represents so well what you have tried to bring up in the poem. Good luck with the contest and with your writings.

A very well-written 5-7-5 about the long neck Canadian geese who stretches her neck to steal french fries from the picnic table before anyone could react to the actions of the geese.

Your 5-7-5 makes excellent use of all of its syllables to describe the resourceful Canadian geese and their love of fast food! The alliteration is an appealing enhancement.

Here in our town we're now not supposed to feed the ducks and the geese - altho most people still do. When our kids were growing up it was a big thing to take old bread and feed the birds. They do make a mess on the lawns however.
Good poem - brought back memories.

Thank you Gail for reviewing and your kind words that shared memories. A lot of places have stopped the feedings but you are right the lawn messes do not go away lol.

Hello Mystery Writer,
You have pegged Canada geese very well!
Did you notice "Canada" as opposed to "Canadian?"
Yup.
I was duly schooled this summer that these birds really go by the moniker "Canada" as opposed to "Canadian." Makes no sense to me whatsoever.
But you might want to check that out. Unfortunately for me, I did, and I found that my obnoxious friend was correct...but that's just between you and me...(I'll always think of them as Canadian...eh?)

Best Wishes!

Thank you Diane for reviewing and your interesting comments. LOL since I am Canadian most here expect me to use Canadian rather than Canada but I did know that. I am so glad that you did pick up on that. Only a few provinces use eh, lol.

Well, I was so annoyed with the mother of a former student of mine when she pointed out my "error" on one of my Facebook postings. This mother's kid didn't know enough to "get out of the rain" on most days, ergo, my annoyance. Anyway, I had taken a video of about seven "Canada" geese blocking the road as I drove along Old Mission Peninsula here in Traverse City, MI. Rather than comment on the beauty of the geese and their comical ways, all she could do was point out that I had called them by an incorrect name! Such is life! :)
I say it's your poem; call them whatever the heck you want to call them! How's that! :)
