A good description of the movie. Great alliteration and imagery by both photo and the description.
You alluded to music of the film which truly added to the movie's effect.
Good luck.
Very well done.

Thanks for your review. I found that throbbing music to be very sinister - it put the hairs on my neck up (I don't have a hairy neck, but you know what I mean)

Thanks so much for this shiny review! Your son must be very compassionate. I felt sorry for the shark too (but not totally), it's his environment after all.
-
He grew up to love sea life and fishes off his dock every chance he gets.

That's a nice connection to have - living by water is enjoyable.
-
He live off the tip of an inlet going out to the bay. He inherited his love of the water from his dad

That sounds a lovely location.

It is we used to go boating out there seems so long ago now like 40 years ago. It hasn't changed much at all.

Thanks for your comments, Sharon.
The movie was responsible for my fear of the ocean.

This is a well written 5-7-5 about a movie you have seen. I saw jaws when I was on vacation with my aunt and uncle in California. The next day, they took me to the beach! Best wishes in the contest, my friend~Debbie

Did you go swimming? I saw it on holiday and went to the beach next day too, but I wasn't about to get wet!!
-
Not really swimming. We did get in the water a bit. Between Jaws and the waves, that was enough. I'd prefer to sit on the beach and swim in a pool~Debbie
-
Me too. Much more civilized.

You really have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this piece.
The rhyming is an appealing enhancement, you're right about the music, and the last line is great! :-)

A very well-written haiku review on Jaws, the movie about the shark that is out there to take revenge on the human race and make them all scared to enter the water for a while.

Nicely conceived Haiku and you've created a piece with a great play on words! "...a film with REEL BITE!" Love it! Wishing you much luck in the contest!

I think you really capture what makes this film frightening--its marvelous score which puts you on edge long before anything visual appears on the screen. Love the pun in your last line. Rod

Thanks for your review, Rod. Yes, it's the anticipation/imagination on the viewer's part that creates a lot of the drama. I read about the making of the film and apparently the mechanical shark kept breaking down and they couldn't show it on screen as much as Spielberg initially wanted to - the crew nicknamed the movie "Flaws" and it went seriously over budget - but the suggestion of the shark, rather than its appearance, elevated the tension level more and therefore increased the film's success as a horror movie.

Do you know, I've never watched the movie? Read the book and heard t he music and watched the scenes with t he fin approaching beneath the water. Thanks for the additional informat ion. Delightful poem, and you're right, the music in particular stands the test of time.

Just a few familiar notes of that foreboding music gives me chills. It is in my brain forever.

Thanks for your review.
A reel bite is a play on words, called a pun.
Reel (of film) sounds like real.
A film with real bite would be one that has an impact. Also it refers to shark bite by Jaws.
