Thank you for being inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt's quote to share your own reflections. I agree that most of the time the "others" are hardly ever thinking about us. I appreciate your encouraging us to make ours and other persons' lives matter. Cheers- Joan

Fewer than 100 words here, so I wanted to give you a heads-up. Always read the contest announcement, all of it. There are requirements for length and this is too short. Minimum is 350 words, if I remember correctly.

This is a particularly striking piece of non-fiction. On the surface, it's message is simple -- don't be introspective -- but it actually tackles quite a complex concept. If other people thought less about themselves, and more about how they could improved the lives of other's, then society would function differently in many major respects.

This is an unusual "take" on the assignment since it is not strictly an "opinion" piece. It is short and to the point and has an uplifting message echoed by the picture of a lovely strong tree.
