Hello mystery writer. The picture you used is very entertaining. Inverse complies very nicely with the 5-7-5 style. I like the way you distanced yourself from the ghouls. You just paint the faces, you don't eat their guts. Good luck in the contest.

That makes me a ghoul then. I find cream of pumpkin soup totally delicious, and that is made from the guts of the thing. I am convinced though that most of the ones sold in the supermarkets end up more as objets d'art rather than objets de manger -- food for thought rather than food for survival.

I know poems are renown for their use of "creative" punctuation, but if this was mine, I'd write the initial line as "pumpkin o' pumpkin". This is because I assume that here "o" is a contraction of "oh". However, I realize that's just mt own personal preference {winks}.
