I'm with you - I think it would be scary to go up in a hot air balloon - never tried it. This poem outlined such a trip with effective imagery. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes for your continued creative writing.

This was so good! I loved the description. I felt as if I could be in that balloon taking that ride with the spectacular view! I wanted to be in it and I'm afraid of heights! You picked a great photo to go with this. I just have to ask since you were able to describe this so wonderfully, have you ridden in one? I love that verse: A massive balloon, adorned in a kaleidoscope of colors, that radiate off a cloudy, sunset sky--That's what I'd love to see from inside that balloon! Great job! Patricia1

Hello Patricia1, thanks for flying vicariously on my balloon poem. Yes, indeed, I had a maiden voyage in the mountains around Denver, CO. It was and still is an exhilarating experience of a lifetime.
I am honored by your six-star rating...

This was a great poem. The visual imagery is clear and creative. You stop me to think with spaces. My edit note would be not to add spaces for a flash poetry effect. Otherwise, nice work :)

I've never taken a ride in a balloon but I have parasailed over water and beach. Incredible views. Amazingly quiet. Ease of take off and landing in spite of my anxiety. Nicely written poem.

I liked your poem. Its very descriptive. You are telling a jouney in a balloon. I liked the colors you say you see and so forth. Keep writing! Well done!

Hello JLR,
You've excellent imagery in this well written free verse poem.
Never been in a hot air balloon, but I think you're description
gives a good sense of what it must feel like.
Always good to get back on terra firma, too.
Well done
Robert

Those hot air balloon rides must be so spectacular - I love watching them - from the ground. Can only imagine the feeling of floating away with beauty below. You describe it all so well. I'm almost tempted.

This is a well written story of a balloon ride. It must be beautiful to see the fall colors form on high. Does it really descend that fast. I would think you could control it better. I set up a flight three times last summer and all three times it got cancelled for weather.
Keep writing
Joan

Hi Joan, the only time you truly feel the real downer motion is as the balloonist is doing their level best to hit the landing spot both with accuracy and adequate ballast...tricky As you now have experienced, the weather is the single biggest factor, the balloonist can't control the wind. That is an enemy of what I would call, a fun ballooning experience.

I might have popped the champagne
5000 feet up.But I guess you shouldn't
drink and fly. My Aunt used to have a hot air balloon store in New Mexico. My mother never flew in one. she was the balloon chaser
on the ground. Reading maps and figuring out how to get to where the balloon is. not any job. Might be easier nowadays with cell phone mapping. Maybe you can drop a pin on your phone while in the balloon

The chaser was most important to close the loop in the balloon experience. Surely didn?t want to walk back to start.
